I'm sorry you are sad, but if it ran it is probably feral. The last thing you want to do is catch a wild cat even if it is a kitten. I know because I've be bitten by one and they can carry lots of diseases. Anyhow, have you talked to your parents about adopting a cat from the shelter? I know there are lot of cute kittens there.

It's okay. I understand exactly what you're feeling.
However, it could be someone else's cat or it could be feral.
Feral is the term used when a domesticated animal reverts to being wild. Taming a feral cat is only for the very experienced cat person. Also, you wouldn't want to take someone else's cat. That's akin to stealing.
All cats like people have personalities that are only their own. Some are affectionate, some not so much. Some will stay small, while others will get very big. Some have short hair, while others have very long furry bodies.
There are tabbies, mane coons, torties, persians, prussian blues, ..... all sorts of cats.
I would get a book on cats and investigate on the internet. Read about what you need for a cat, and how to care for a cat. Make sure you understand what a cat needs.
Then, talk to your parents, and prove that you have done your homework. Your parents will be more likely to say yes if you prove to have done your homework and background work.
If your parents say yes, then go to the animal shelter. You can go on-line and look up the shelters in your town or neighborhood. You should find out if there is an adoption fee and how much it costs to spay or neuter your cat, plus any shots to help your cat not catch some bad diseases.
Don't be sad...
1. Learn about cats
2. Talk to your parents
3. Adopt a cat and save a life
4. Love and care for the cat, and the cat will return the favor.

It may actually belong to someone so you may not have been able to keep it. You could wait and see if it comes back. In the meantime look up infirmation about kitten and cats on the internet and convince your parents you are mature and responsible enough to own your own kitten. If you see this kitten still wondering around you could keep it otherwise adopt a kitten from the pound or animal shelter. there are so many kittens being put down each day and you could be saving it's life.

The cat probably went home. You should ask your parents to take you to the humane society or another local animal shelter to ask about adopting a pet. There are many animals that need a good home. Make sure beforehand that you're ready and able to take on the responsibility for having and taking care of animal.

Most likely it went back to it's home. Why not speak to your parents about getting you a cat?
