Unless they changed the rules since the 70's, you can carry just about any weapon you want in a war zone. I remember soldiers who returned from Vietnam saying they preferred to carry an AK47, which is a weapon captured from the enemy. The early M-16, the official weapon issued to most US soldiers in Vietnam, was very prone to jam up and some guys would use anything else they could get their hands on.
You can only carry weapons that are assigned to you at other times.

It is probably illegal to have on your base, post, fort, etc. Check with your MPs, SPs, etc. As for carrying it in a war zone, you are only authorized to carry issued weapons. Any other weapon is a violation of the Geneva Conventions and the Law of War. As for carrying it in public, being in the military does not give you special priviledges. Check with the local cops.

Carry it where? On post? At the mall? In Iraq? I think the only spring loaded knife allowed by the military is the Benchmade. That may only be the one they are authorized to buy. Not sure.

well...
the answers no if you are not involved in a job that could require a knife operated by one hand. At one time, pilots and para-rescue were the only group in the Air Force that because of the potential for having to cut themselves out of a parachute, or to basically cut anything one handed, were given a regulation government switch blade knife. it came with an orange grip, and the blade was only as long as it needed to be for the job.
Now, if a pilot needs to cut himself loose from a parachute, they have a little u-shaped hook knife. I do not know if they still even have the Orange switch blades anymore.

YES, if it required for your job. You can carry it while performing your job.
Im an Air Force Cop, we get issued switch blades before deploying sometimes.
And pilots as well carry them on base as well.
Off base, no way. In texas only way you can carry an automatic knife is be law enforcement or have one arm.
good luck

Only if it was a military issue for you for your job classification and you were in uniform and working at the time you were carrying it.

You are in the military and you are asking "experts" on Yahoo...
I have nothing but respect for our military, but if solders get information about their weapons on Yahoo, we are in big trouble.
What if I say you can carry it, but in reality it's not allowed, what will you do? Will you tell your commanding officer: "But a guy on Yahoo said I could..."

No, you can't. Check your service's regulations and see what you can carry. I know we can carry pepper spray 10% or under.

No you can't. You can't have it as a deployed servicemember or at any service schools. You can be kicked out of NCO schools and face charges if caught with it.

I doubt it.
I was a cook in a kitchen. Unless I was *safely* transporting my knife, I couldn't carry it...
