This is just a little something I've been wondering about for quite some time. I'm not saying I really want to do that, because I really don't. But I'm rather curious as to what you folks would have to say about it. I feel I should add I've been dealing with mental illness for a number of years now, and was wondering if that would have anything to do with where I go when I pass away. All replies are greatly appreciated, I thank you again in advance.

No you do not go to hell for committing suicide if you believe in God. My late brother in law is in heaven now and I can assure you he did not go to hell for committing suicide.

When I was my most depressed in my twenties, I didn't think of suicide very long because I knew I couldn't hurt my young children that way. Still I would come back to that idea, wondering what would have stopped me if I hadn't had children. I don't know, but one thing that is a powerful restraint to me is if there is any chance that those who commit suicide wake up in hell, whether that's punishment for killing or a sign that one wasn't following God. Wouldn't I feel stupid if I thought I was going to escape, and it only made things worse for me? That happens sometimes with failed suicide attempts. A bullet can cause some horrible injuries without killing you.

I don't mind people using whatever words they want to say that someone they knew who committed suicide is not in hell. People believe what they need to believe. But when it comes to someone who is contemplating suicide, I really wish he or she would consider that the spiritual consequences of suicide might be worse than the pain that is driving them to suicide. I don't know what those consequences are, as I don't think any religion knows, but even if there is no fire and brimstone, an eternity separated from God doesn't sound like a picnic to me. The chances of that don't have to be very high for me to say no thanks, I'll work through my pain.

Interesting premise. On the one hand, some believers subscribe to the application of the Commandments, namely "thou shalt not kill", and see suicide as a violation. On the other hand, there are those who believe what Jesus said about going to the Father through Him and that the only truly unforgivable sin was to deny the acts of the Holy Spirit, meaning that if you never denied acts of the Holy Spirit and asked forgiveness for your sins, then you would go to Heaven. For those who believe that persons who commit suicide go to hell, how do you respond to the rest of humanity who commits transgressions against the Commandments? I prefer to side with the believers who say to ask forgiveness is the pathway to Heaven, so long as the sanctity of the Holy Spirit is upheld.

And on the suicide subject count? i've got been informed in basic terms God judges who is going to hell and who would not. And that there are issues that come into attention... like chemical imbalances interior the innovations, like melancholy or something the place someone would not be of their authentic innovations to be able to make stable judgements... and definite, melancholy is a actual, serious ailment. look at this pastor on youtube... he's incredibly large, i got here across a video titled the mark of the beast the place i think of he explains it better than I do. i did not watch the vid nevertheless... i've got not got time authentic now so i got here across something that suits this subject count. This guy knows each and everything appropriate to the bible, even knows hebrew and greek and study the unique scripts to understand the finished which ability of the bible..

People will give you all kinds of answers including the one I'm about to give you. The bottom line is that nobody knows until they try it.

My own belief is that Life is a gift from God and we are sent here for a reason. By killing yourself you are throwing that gift back in God's face and saying "It's not good enough!". I can't imagine he'd be overjoyed with you for doing that.

Yes. In my belief anyway. Some people may feel differently, but it is accepted to many believers (Christians, Catholics) that if you do, you've sinned against the "thou shalt not kill" commandment of the Bible, and therefore will not be able to ask for forgiveness, and will end up in hell.

Well im not sure either way , but i feel everyone goes to heaven when we die because i feel we are living in hell right now. look at the world and see how things are going and tell me if you think we are in hell. you can believe what you want but you go to heaven no mater what when you die. and its up to god to let ya in to the golden gates or keep you on the outside of those gates. we are living in hell now.

Thou shall not kill . Most people i know believe that you will go to hell if you kill your self. If life is that bad on earth imagine what it would be in hell.

I think it depends on what you believe. If you believe in hell and believe that's where you're going, it might as well be. If you don't believe in hell, you can't go there.
