It is clear to me that there are two major camps among you atheists. Those who say if God would prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he exist you would accept him or at least invite Him in for a chat. Then there are those who say they would still reject Him to His face. This second group have issues that go back to how they interpret the Bible.
God was never blood thirsty. When men and women are left to their own devices the inner bad nature soon surfaces with a vegence and they begin to spread violence on the scale of genecide.
All God did was stop them.
If terrorists were going door to door killing folk on your street I don't think you would have a problem with God taking care of that little problem would you?

"When men and women are left to their own devices the inner bad nature soon surfaces with a vegence and they begin to spread violence on the scale of genecide."

This is exactly the problem I have with your interpretation of god. He is our heavenly father, according to believers. I am a mother of a beautiful son whom I created in my womb. I trust that my son has a good inner core... he's a good person down deep. I don't assume that he has an "inner bad nature."

Your god assumes that his creations are horrible and need to be terrified into behaving properly. And when they don't, he kills them.

If my son behaves improperly, I scold him and guide him in the right direction. I don't kill him and start over.

yes, I've read the bible... I was baptized, raised, and confirmed Lutheran. I've always had a problem with MANY MANY things portrayed in the bible, but this vengeful, killing god was at the top of the list. I refuse to believe that a mighty creator is so selfish, demanding, and childish as to kill us if we don't obey.

And if terrorists were going door to door killing people on my street, I wouldn't wait for god to step in. Prayer never solved anything. ACTION solves things. I would hide, run, or defend myself against the terrorists.

Also, don't forget that the terrorists who are killing people are doing so in the name of their OWN god. Why is yours right and theirs wrong? Both are asking their creations to kill in his name.

So you are saying that God is stopping terrorists from killing people door to door?

And I thought it was the police force.

If he can be everywhere and stop all these would be terrorists, how come he can't confuse three of them for 30 seconds? Specifically the three that were siting in the pilot seats of the planes that flew into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.

He is omnipotent, so he could have stopped them, or make them miss. He is omnicognizant so he must have known that it was going to happen. I guess he just was not very all-loving to the 3000+ people in the buildings and on the planes. After all they were all there by their own free will.

May your god go. With you.

What do you call little children being molested every day? What about children who are abused, beaten and killed? Drug dealers killing innocent people because they were at the wrong place at the right time? If God wanted to "take care of a little problem for us", why is He waiting on terrorists to go door to door killing folk. There's plenty of opportunity right now to step in.

Why in the world do you continue to try to convert us or make us see something that clearly is not there. We do not need you to explain YOUR interpretation of the bible. You are wasting your time. I understand you feel the need to defend your belief, but I have the right to investigate on my own and determine what works for me.
I see all these Christians in such a rush to belittle Atheists/Agnostics, for finding our own voice.
Look you should really spend more time reading the bible. God stopped them? Then why is it all still happening today? Because God does not exist and you are reading a fairy tale; a story...nothing more!

Can you tell me the last time an Athiest committed genocide?

If only God would show up like he used to do in the Bible, He knows of the millions of non-believers that would instantly convert. Does He know that staying in hiding is very counter-productive?

this is just a really bad topic and nobody will win. for those who believe in the God of the Bible, it is not your job to judge others. Hold your faith and rejoice in what you believe in. There is nothing wrong with wanting to see others believe in what you feel is right. However, there is a difference between caring than just wanting to win the argument.
For those of you who do not believe in "God" and want to argue back, quit being so hatefull and defensive. No need to be calling someones belief as a bloodthirsty vampire. That's just a little uncalled for.
I myself believe that everyone has the right to follow their own path and be happy. I will never judge someone for what they believe or put down their "god" --whatever that might be. That is their belief-that is their center, and for some people, that is all they have to hold on to. I respect that. And everyone else should as well.
So just let it go, and learn some respect for yourself and others.

I am one of the people who do not believe in any god but, should the abrahamic deity prove to be true, would actively oppose such a monster.
There's simply no way to read the bible, or koran, and not come away with a strong sense of horror for the deity written about in those books.
