As a devout Christian and a person who's 50 year old CHRISTIAN mother shot herself a year ago, I have to disagree. She had suffered from bipolar disorder for over 20 years.
In the 10 commandments it says "Thou shall not kill." I assume that means yourself as well as others. But we don't know God's plan or his intentions.
My mother knew the Lord, had asked Christ into her heart and knew that he had died on the cross for her sins. She raised me and my brother in Christ. She loved my father of 30 years. But she was ill. She lost her battle to bipolar disorder, the same as someone looses their battle with cancer or the likes.
To say that we know that you go to hell because you commit suicide is trying to play God. We don't know where anyone goes when they die.
That all being said, if you are questioning these things--seek professional help. There is a better way, life waxes and wanes, and this too shall pass. Pray for peace and I will keep you in my prayers also.

Well, Mike, I think the Bible tells us that we all go to God first and then when it's judgement day, we get divided up and go where we are to go.
Since I don't know anyone that has died and come back to tell about it, I will take what the Bible says as truth.
I will say that taking your own life, suicide, is considered murdering yourself. The Bible says we should not murder, it is one of the 10 Commandments. In other words, God thinks that is something that is very bad, since He created all of us and doesn't want us killing what He created.
I believe there are exceptions however; when someone is dying and they're suffering, when an animal is dying and suffering. Those are mercy killings. This is very controversial, to say the least. But I do believe God is a loving being and would not fault us for doing what we felt was the right thing in those cases.

No. The reason for this is "eternal security". There are many verses in the bible (sorry I can't name specifics...) That say things to the effect of "Nothing can ever snatch my children from my hands."
There is no sin (besides blasphemy) that can keep you from god's kingdom if you are truly faithful and believe that Jesus died so you would be forgiven of your sins. Some people raise the question of why a true Christian would really want to die, but we must take into account the mental instability that comes with a painful or traumatic event.

God gave us a life because He wants us to live. I have been taught that God is all-knowing, that means that God knows what is best for everyone, everything, all the time. If God didn't want you to live, you would not have been born, or He would take your life. I believe that if you take your own life, you are saying to God that you know more than Him and that your ideas are better than His. It's almost like you are trying to be God, and that is wrong. Not only would you hurt yourself and your family and friends, but you would also hurt people in your past, present and future. Yes, future, because everyone has a purpose in this life. In fact, we have many purposes in life. Someday you might save someone else's life or help someone in some way. If you take your own life, you will not be there for those special purposes in your life, so you will be hurting others in the process. God put you here for a reason - stick around and find out what it is. If you need someone to talk to, write me: gonetoday@sbcglobal.net

Yes and I will explain killing your self is a sin it says so in the bible and the only way to rid your self of sin is to ask Gods forgiveness. If you kill your self you can not ask for forgiveness after you have committed this sin. My cousin shot his self when we were 18 and it is one of the worse things I have ever had to live through. Watching the pain of his family the ones that is left behind is suffering just as he will for eternity. Anyone that ever wanted to consider killing there selfs needs to consider this if you think this world is bad imagine how much worse hell will be.

No, you see the religions have developed loop holes to serve their individual agendas. Certain religions claim that suicide under any circumstance puts you on an Express Train to Hell. Some religions claim that if you commit suicide that serves their purpose, you go to Paradise. We really need for God to get more involved with the religions who come and go as they please.

I believe that you go to hell because murder is a sin and if you take your own life its still murder. in order to be forgiven for a sin a person must confess and ask for forgiveness, but if you are dead how can you ask for forgiveness. If you are curious about hell i would advise you to read the divine revelation of hell its a real shocker!!!!

well I'm gay, so apparently I'm going to hell anyway...but after some of the religious right that I see on some of these sites...I seriously think that I'd rather not be with them in heaven. BTW I am not suicidal.

I dont know ,neither does anyone that is alive on this planet. only the dead can know what it's like to be dead.the only way you will ever find out is to try it ,but just remember you only get one chance at it and then its too late. suicide is a permanant solution to a temporary problem, whatever the problem may be.

Our creator knew how we were before he made us and he would destroy you b4 he would torture you for eternity.
