yes they can . like when they are first take away from the litter. they can also get depressed like if you leave them or you get sick or the owners die or if you have 2 dogs and something happens to one of them. they will miss it and grieve. they will snap out of it.

Dogs can definitely get depressed! Symptoms are just like they would be in a human. Sleeping and eating problems, lethargy, not being as playful as usual, etc. My dog got depressed and my veterinarian actually prescribed doggy antidepressants!

Yes dogs can get depressed.Alot of different things can cause depression in dogs even illness such as parvo.

I knew a dog that got seriously depressed, but he was near the end of his life and couldn't digest food properly. You could tell how sad he was.

Usually your dog is not getting enough attention... or it has something like arthritis that just makes it sit around all day.
