The New Testament equivalent of Sheol is Hades. Prior to Christ’s resurrection, Luke 16:19-31 shows Hades to be divided into two realms: a place of comfort where Lazarus was, and a place of torment where the rich man was. The word hell in verse 23 is not “Gehenna” (place of eternal torment) but “Hades” (place of the dead). Lazarus’s place of comfort is elsewhere called Paradise (Luke 23:43). Between these two districts of Hades is “a great gulf fixed” (Luke 16:26).
Sorry, never heard of tartaros.

A very good question.
They are different.
Hades is the Greek word for Hell. and this is what Revelation says'
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Ha′des were hurled into the lake of fire. This means the second death, the lake of fire.
Combine this with;(Revelation 21:4) And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Death and Hades/Hell will have passed away.
What accompanies death? It is man's grave, in the ground or in the sea. So 'Hell' is man's grave. It is not permanent.
On the other hand, Gehenna or Tartarus IS permanent. It is also known in the Bible as ' the lake of fire'
this is permanent destruction.
Things and conditions can be destroyed.
satan will be, along with his demons, also worldly organisations such as ;
(Revelation 20:10) And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulphur, where both the wild beast and the false prophet [already were]; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Is not to be rendered impotent...torment?
This 'lake of fire' description is taken from the burning pit that was outside the walls of Jerusalem, into which were thrown the bodies of dead stock and even executed criminals. sulphur was added and everything was completely burned and destroyed. It was also a method of disease control. Every farmer who runs stock has one of these pits for the same reason. Our crematoriums do the same job.
nothing is left but ashes.
GEHENNA
(Ge·hen′na) [Gr. form of the Heb. Geh Hin·nom′, “Valley of Hinnom”].
This name appears 12 times in the Christian Greek Scriptures, and whereas many translators take the liberty to render it by the word “hell,” a number of modern translations transliterate the word from the Greek ge′en·na.—Mt 5:22, Ro, Mo, ED, NW, BC (Spanish), NC (Spanish), also the footnotes of Da and RS.
The translation is not correct.
The deep, narrow Valley of Hinnom, later known by this Greek name, lay to the S and SW of ancient Jerusalem and is the modern-day Wadi er-Rababi (Ge Ben Hinnom). (Jos 15:8; 18:16; Jer 19:2, 6; see HINNOM, VALLEY OF.) Judean Kings Ahaz and Manasseh engaged in idolatrous worship there, which included the making of human sacrifices by fire to Baal. (2Ch 28:1, 3; 33:1, 6; Jer 7:31, 32; 32:35) Later, to prevent such activities there in the future, faithful King Josiah had the place of idolatrous worship polluted, particularly the section called Topheth.—2Ki 23:10.

Jesus spoke a parable the wheat was goatherd and placed into his barns these are the children of God. The weeds were goatherd and placed into bundles were they are to be burned at the end of the age. The bundles are different places of pain/dungeons were the souls of those found wanting are placed until the end of the age when the Resurrection takes place and the books are opened thoughs that are written in the book of life to ever lasting life those who are found wanting are thrown with the devil and his angels into that lake which burns with fire were death and hades are cast magnifying its pain.

Sheol/Hades is the abode of the dead.
Gehenna/Tartaros/Jhananam is the fiery (from the fiery garbage dump) place for punishment of the dead, where evil is allegedly purified.
