Get these things together: a wooden dowel 1 1/2" or 2" in diameter by 2-ft long (or something similar you can drive a small nail into); a strong tack or a short nail with a large head; a 5-ft length of twine or cord; and a 5-lb weight.
Use the nail to attach one end of the cord to the mid-point of the dowel. Tie the weight to the other end of the cord.
To exercise your forearms, simply hold the dowel as if you're going to do curls with a dumbbell, and turn the dowel to wind the cord and bring the weight up to the dowel. Alternate holding the dowel with either palms facing up or facing down. Adjust the cord length to suit.

Believe it or not, squeezing a sponge or rubber ball. Gene Tunney (ex boxer from the 30's) did this. Otherwise if you are using weights, reverse curls (standing and sitting down) work great. Another good one is holding a barbell behind your back, do a wrist curl motion until you are tired, then hold it in the curl postion as long as you can.

don't waste time doing wrist curls and such. go start doing deadlifts and pull some heavy weight. that's what's going to develop grip strength (and thus forearm growth). not to mention, lifting weight off the ground is a lot more useful in life than curling a bar.

if you don't wish to get your arms very big and scary, just use a light dumbell 1.5 to 2kg. that should do. How you want your musles to look like depends on how you use the dumbell.

if you want to get your arms big and scary like hulk hogan, you need to go to the gym and start pumping irons that builds up your biceps, triceps and shoulder as well.

Get a 5 or 10lb. weight and place your arm across a bench chair,so your hand is hanging off the edge, with the wrist down. keep your arm flat while you lift your hand until it burns. flip the arm and repeat.
