The name Christian is to be like Christ. So if we bear the name of Christian we bear the name of Christ. The word Christian was first given in the church of Antioch. The definition goes back to Christ commissioning the apostles to go in His name.

I had someone tell me that Bob was not a Christian name. I've been confused ever since. I think certain churches when they baptize people into their faith, make the person pick something the priest thinks is acceptable to their particular Christian God.

The term "Christian" essentially means "little Christ." Christian is the term given to followers of Jesus Christ in the first century A.D. (Acts 11:26).

Roughly, it means "a person with a name of Christian". This really isn't the right forum to describe it in depth. Plus I'd need some golden tablets, an ankh, and a young male lamb to fully spell it all out.

A follower of '"the Christ" or "Messiah", who was Jesus Christ.
Jesus never asked to be ' deified' HIMSELF, but directed all worship to his Father in heaven, Jehovah God.
(John 5:19) Therefore, in answer, Jesus went on to say to them: “Most truly I say to YOU, The Son cannot do a single thing of his own initiative, but only what he beholds the Father doing. For whatever things that One does, these things the Son also does in like manner.

(John 4:34) Jesus said to them: “My food is for me to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.

(John 1:18) No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is in the bosom [position] with the Father is the one that has explained him.
