I am with you he's not he greatest commentator. His style as a commentator is kind of annoying he is always talking over the other guy at ESPN has and repeats himself and just goes on and on. I think they could have gotten much better people for the entire ESPN team. The only people that are worth listening too are the ones that switched from other networks

Wish Dale Jarrett would have stayed commentating on the Busch series though and would do Nextel next year. Or If they got Wally from NBC/TNT. And who knows I am sure Petty will also do a good job too.

Rusty has the same problem as D.W., Mickey, and Phil Parsons, They don't know when to shut up. How many times do they have to explain things? Do they think they have a totally naive audience each race? NASCAR fans are passionate about racing and have a pretty good idea of what's going on. Explain new stuff a time or two but give us a break. So far I like Kyle Petty's style better, he doesn't treat the fans like we're idiots.

Yeah Rusty explains stuff to us like we are 2 years old. Rusty is too "textbook" when he is in the booth as a commentator... loosen up a little and dont be such robot!... Rusty I can tolerate but I cannot stand Tim Brewer or whatever his name is... he studders, always has that crap eating grin, and just sounds like an idiot on tv!

Rusty is okay, yet once you combine him with united states hick Andy Peachtree. It sucks. that's the only place the place ESPN particularly dropped the ball. i like the coverage they have with ESPN, however the main commentators are decrease than par. using adult males who conceal open wheel racing merely would not decrease it. i could want to work out the commentating team from TNT do the ESPN race (that replaced into the only stable ingredient appropriate to the TNT production). the only stable ingredient approximately Rusty is that he knows whilst to communicate and whilst not too. this is something approximately DW that I on no account ought to deal with. He likes to communicate each and every of the time. He talks over the different announcers, and he says various issues that are merely ineffective (like whilst he says issues that amuse himself, yet do not make plenty experience). not elementary to acceptable issues like this nevertheless.

Give Rusty time. You wouldnt expect anybody with little expeirence being a broadcaster being a great immeaditly. Give him another year or so. If he is still as explained, then maybe yes, its time for a switch.

You wouldnt pull a rookie or relatively new ANYTHING when they pull a rookie mistake.

I think Kyle Petty does a better job than Rusty. Maybe he will get better with time.

I wondered back in the 80s why so many other drivers didn't like Rusty, my boss ( huge racing fan) said it was because he was friends with Earnhardt, and Earnhardt had such a lousy reputation for wrecking other drivers. Is that why he's still unpopular? Earnhardt is long gone, we shouldn't hold that against Rusty nowadays!

I like Rusty. I think that all he needs is some grooming. He will be fine.

He comes upshort on his announcing skills. He doesknow the workings of the sport and he is a very good technical person but he needs help on the "play by play" portion of racing.
