In the Oceania area (Philippines, Thai land and such) there are reports of Muslims marching in the streets, shouting "death to all Buddhists" and shooting up schools and school children. I am not expert on religion, yet far as I understand, Buddhists is the most peaceful religion I know and do not know of any historic events to such people to hold a grudge against them. What is going on here?

I do not want to sound accusatory. If the majority says (most I come across do say so.) that islam is a religion of peace, then what are the non-extremists doing to reduce and combat these extremists? What can the average non-muslim can do to help you out?

Terrorism is not from Islam, as a Muslim we single out worship to One God, we believe that No diety has the right to be worshipped in truth except Allaah.

The Qu'ran is the speech of Allaah it is not a book and it was not created. The book where it is written down is called a mustaf. And you are reading and going upon your own interpretation you are going to go astray. If you were Muslim you might know this.

You do not have to believe or trust a Muslim. Why is that neccessary for you too. One day you will have to return to your Creator, just make sure you are upon the correct religion and May Alaah guide you.

Islam like ALL religions, holds peace, love and worship as the foundations of their Religion. Like ALL religions, there are SOME folks who misuse their religion to accomplish their OWN goals and NOT the goals that the Faith was intended to set, when it was first developed. I'm NOT a Muslim but have MANY friends who ARE. I have been in their homes, been to their Mosques for prayers and have been in on religious discussions with them as well. There ARE a FEW who behave as you have described and had one of my freinds go off on a similar bout of jusgemental talk and I noticed that the REST, politely asked him to stop his crazy speech and behavior. He didn't and tehy ALL just stood up and walked out on him, without a rod to him at all. After a few minutes he came out to the rest of us and apologized and everyone acted as though nothing happened. A TRULY remarkeable experience. The REST knew that his speech was UN-Muslim, said so, were ignored so THEY in turn ignored him, until he "saw the light". He came out, did the RIGHT thing and was immediately accepted back into the group. No badmouthing, no harsh words, no offense taken, simply a move by everyone to assert a peacefull atmosphere.

Now, I have READ an English translation of the Koran, and taken on a whole< I find it to be an uplifting and emotional work. ANYONE can take ANY Holy Book and dissect it to find passages and quotes that will suport some agenda that was NOT intended. I have seen Chrisitans, Jews AND Msulims do it, over and over again. Thjose passages are taken OUT of the contes in which thehy were writtten and misused bhy the quoter to support his OWN agenda and NOT the agenda of the God of that book.

I am a Wiccan, About as MUCH of an Infidel as you can get, as far as a Muslim is concerned, and YET, if I find the Peace and Acceptance of the AVERAGE Muslim on the street as being noteworthy, then CERTAINLY any member of any other Abrahamic Faith should be able to see and recognize that as well. Regardless of WHICH passages are being stressed by SOME to support their OWN agenda.

Brightest Blessings,

INDEED ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE. I'M A MUSLIM AND IS PROUD TO BE ONE.

In fact, when muslims meet, they greet each other with the word "PEACE".

The problem that islam is facing is that everyone (even muslims) is distorting its image and finally its muslims who are blamed.

Islam has teached how we should shower tolerance to the religions of others.

when quoting something from any book you should look for the real meaning of the line. try to read the previous line and the line that follows and you'll get the real meaning. you can't just take out a few words from the Al-Quran and say that quran has stated this and that. Furthermore, you should decript the meaning with respect to the context.

I would really recommend you to read some books related to tolerance and good manners as being preached by islam.

ISLAM is a beautiful religion only for the people who value the beauty and not for people who use the religion for vested interests.

May GOD guide you towards the right path.

Islam is a religion of peace, well just as much as all the others, but it's the people behind it that are cowards who kill in the name of God, but again this is nothing new most of the main religions have killed and murdered women and children in the name of God, this is fact just look back at history, the difference being it was out in the open, much of it face to face giving everybody a chance, not killing the way they do now.
BUT it is only a small number of Muslims, or so they tell us that are like that, many are peace loving, i just wonder why the others allow it to continue if they are against it so much.

And no i am not and never will be a Muslim, but i do respect others of all religions, to me the main message that seems to missing from God is Love, Peace, and understanding.

Love & Peace

I know it's not polite to answer a question with a question but maybe we could this time. Is peace what your looking for or is it eternity with God?
Because if it is, Islam is not the way. Jesus said that he was the way, the truth, and the life. No one gets to the father but through him. He also said that God gave his only begotten son so that through him the world could be saved but for those who do not believe in his name are condemned already. It's not a religion that's going to give you eternal life it's God the Son, Jesus the Christ.
Whatever Islam or anything else is, for it to be peaceful needs peaceful people to be a part of it.
You could have a peaceful school cafe experience or you could have and extremist food fight.
I don't mean to trivialize your question I just wonder if your seeking a truth or are you asking an open ended question.

Theoretically each and every religion is 'a religion of peace' ... at least for people within that religion. There was no problem with religions when they just existed and served the people. But when a religion wants to spread... the problems begin here, since 'spread' is a term used in imperialistic earthly ways and not in a religious or spiritual way.

I believe that Islam is a religion of peace, but as with all religions there are those who will use their interpretation of any religion to justify violence and hatred - such as the website that you refer to and the wording of your question.

I am not a Muslim.

if you are not ready to accept answers and views of people who are Muslims and live a life of peace then you will always continue believing what people who don't like Islam post on the so called websites. this is not how people learn.

please don't ask to find fault, but to use your questioning as a means of getting to the truth, that you maybe satisfied with.

if you so dearly beleive what this ONE source says then fine, but that doesn't mean another person is not telling the truth.

just keep an open mind

Its not okay to lie in Islam to a non-believer under normal circumstances and nor its this stated in the Quran.

As much as some people would like others to believe.
