Why do they try to prove religion wrong?

Religious people, have to teach others about their beliefs.
This isn’t true for atheists.

I know some atheists could care less, but some others try so hard to prove it wrong.
Why?

Consider this: In this part of the world, most atheists are former believers. (I was raised catholic myself.) That makes atheists fully qualified to discuss religion.

That alone is sufficient reason for us to do so, if any reason were required.

The rest of the world talks constantly about the subject. Why should anybody abstain from it?

the same reason Canadians talk about America: in inherent identity crisis.

You see as an atheist growing up in a predominantly religious world (as I did as a child of the 60's) one is lead to believe that the religious way is the right way by most popular culture. This flies in the face of the rationalist (read atheist) view of the world. Allowing some mythological deity decide right or wrong in the world is kind of crazy to a rationalist so in the face of a large and influential group that subscribes to that idea it's not surprising that they might talk about them a bit.
Statistics state that church attendance is dropping and while religious affiliation remains high I doubt that many non-attending christians ( 84% claim affiliation while less than 25% actually attend) are that wired into their religion. It seems like there are a lot of people claiming some kind of moral superiority that is really based on something they thought was important once or maybe their parents made them do for a while.

Some people wrongly believe that it is their right to try and persuade people into believing that they believe is the correct thing to believe in. But this isn't just atheists.

I do not believe, and I can say, honestly, that in my place of work, I have at least 1 person, each day, who tries to persuade me into changing my opinions.

Persuasion is an individual trait. It is not just something that is a trait of someone with a particular faith.

We all need to respect each others opinions and live side by side without trying to say who is right and who is wrong.

There are sooooo many different things we could be debating about. Hair colour, car type, sleep time, food tastes. If we were all the same with the same beliefs, the world would be extremely boring. Don't you think?

Why isn't it true that Atheists have to educate others? Evolution is definatly something that needs to be taught.

Because religious people try so hard to prove religion is right.

Because reality is reality whether someone thinks it is or isn't. God, like nothing else, causes such a reaction in people...now some people will say, there could be any number of reasons for that. I believe the reason is that it is reality. Every tongue will confess.

You already answered the question, because "Religious people, have to teach others about their beliefs". If the zealots minded their own business and kept to themselves as they should, atheists wouldn't have anything to complain about.

I'm an Atheist who respects the right to practice any religion....and to believe in any faith.

To turn your question around....why do "some" Christians try to challenge our decision to not believe in any religion....or to believe in God.

Accepting on both sides is the way to go.....I think.

My guess would be that they don't like the religious people who "have to" teach their faith pushing their beliefs on them. So it's kinda like giving a dose of their own medicine.

We are here in the religion and spirituality section. What else should we discuss? Don't we have the right to our opinions? Plenty of people sure ask our opinions on the subject.

the reason we are atheists is not about against religion. We are atheist because we think so far the faith we know are not reasonable to us. The reason you think we are against religion is that when some group of religious people tried to convert us we defend ourselfs with education that we know. And since they can't convert us they get angry and blame that we are against them.
