Start running. Even if it is only 10 minutes out and 10 minutes back - build up to an hour of running 6 days a week.
Start doing push-ups. You will need to build up your upper body strength and you will be doing tons of push-up every day in basic - so you need to start doing them now. Same thing for sit-ups.

Best of luck to you!

I'm assuming you haven't talked to your local Army or Marine Corps recruiter yet? If you haven't, take that step and examine all your options with both of the services. Once you've decided the route to take, your recruiter will be more than happy to guide you on pre-basic physical fitness (most have an early AM PT session several times a week for their recruits who haven't shipped out yet).

If you want to strike out on your own getting in shape for Basic or Boot, remember the big three: running, sit-ups and chin-ups. There are some really good workout books out there detailing the calisthenics used in both Basic and Boot, but my favorite is "The Complete Guide to Navy SEAL Fitness" by former SEAL Stew Smith. You have to be in pretty good shape when you start the program, but once you get through it, Basic or Boot will be NOOOO problem.

Push-ups, pull-ups, running, sit-ups, rope climb and other physical exercises will shape you to be physically fit in order to survive the training for being a military police officer. Aside, from that, you must be mentally fit and tough.

Why do you want to be an MP?

I only ask because MPs in the Army and Marines do very different jobs.

There are much fewer MPs in the Marines and they do Much more Law Enforcement & Corrections than do Army MPs.

Army MPs Deploy, allot. More than all but 2 other Army branches (Special Forces & Civil Affairs). We have corrections and law enforcement units but the majority of our units are combat support.

So If you want to see combat, Welcome but if you think you are going to be driving a patrol car every day (like most first term Soldiers I have met in the past) Think again.

As for the work out, Push ups, sit ups, & Run.

Your drills will do the rest

Most military personel need to be proficient in the big 3.

Run- try to get your running time for 2 miles as close to 13 minutes as possible. (What the army considers the absolute best possible time for the 2 mile)

Sit-ups - try to do as close to 78 sit-ups in 2 minutes as possible (again what the army considers the best possible score)

Push-ups - try to do as close to 71 push-ups in 2 minutes as possible (what army considers best possible score)

Start on a physical training program, running, push-ups
sit ups , chin ups and weight training and most of the stuff that
you did in high school in P.E.

Good Luck

Don't listen to that "marksatguy" idiot above, the closest thing he knows with the initials "MP" is his Mop Pail at his custodial job. Start running and doing push ups and sit ups. LOTS of them! As many as you possibly can. Every Day! start with 2 sets of 10 push ups and sit ups and do more every day if you can. Eat balanced meals and get plenty of sleep, your going to NEED it.
