I think that the response card is simply an acknowledgment that your resume and/or application has been received.
Many employers take this extra step because they realize that candidates want to know if their application was received or not and may be tempted to call excessively to find out.
Some employers have lengthy hiring processes and if they didn't acknowledge you, you would get antsy and maybe even hostile. This cuts down frustration for both parties. Don't consider it a brush off, consider it a courteous gesture. It could have said "your application will be kept on file for 60 days, if we don't call you, reapply after that."

I've had about 20 jobs in the last three years and I can tell you that when an employer checks your work history it is only the references and jobs listed on your resume unless you're applying for a Federal or law enforcement job. Even if a regular employer does a background check they are normally checking your credit and criminal record.

It sounds like a general reply they send out to acknowledge that they received your resume. Many employers electronically screen resumes for key words and qualifications. Your resume is probably being reviewed like this and they will contact you more personally is they are interested in interviewing you.

It s very possible they are trying to make a choice between you an an another Resume. Try posting your resume here also, it is free to post. If you tell your friends about posting there resume for free an they get hired, you get a paid.

It sounds like a standard acknowledgement they send to everybody who applied there.
I'd bet, if in a week, you sent your application/resume again, you'd get the same card.
At least you know they have received it.

Hard to tell, but if they didn't say just that they'd "keep it on file", I'd actually be inclined to believe that they're reviewing it. Sometimes bigger companies will have processes in place to send those messages out automatically bcse they know they take longer than average to get back to prospective employees. Good luck!

they filed it somewhere
10% chance you get the job
the employment thing is like this:
they have to find people who can do the job and are willing to, who are not crazy, weird, or criminal record, or anything suspicious , for as little as they have to pay
if a few people suddenly quit, they would call you

Assume that it means exactly what it says. If they decide that they don't want you, they presumably will say so.
