This is the first time I am traveling on an airplane and I am wondering what electronics I am allowed to carry on.

Yes, you can bring electronic devices but you will have to turn them off at take off and landing.
My daughter travels with her portable DVD player and I use my Ipod to watch my shows.
You can also bring your laptop, MP3 players, etc.

yes its OK. Most have to be turned off. A CD player will not interfere with the planes radar and radio stuff which is shy phones and pagers have to be turned off.

Always check the airline codes before flying. Take the link to NEW TSA codes. Follow them to the letter and no problems.
