How tight is money? If Wal-Mart is out of your league, I would say go to a thrift store or a consignment store where the sell kids' clothes. I have found so many gently used dresses/pants/shirts/shorts at "Boutique Vivi" (Value Village). In fact, my mom-in-law found 4 gorgeous little dresses for my daughter when she was first born, brought them home, washed them up and wow...they were stunning! Take a good look at the clothing you are considering, though. If it has tags on still, you're laughing! Look to see if there are spit-up stains (or other kinds of stains), see if there are popped seams or any signs of wear.

Go to a dollar store and get some baby girl headbands. I actually made one out of some soft, stretchy lace. I glue-gunned some little flowers to it and it was pretty cute. The narrower headbands sometimes leave the baby with "band head" and that's just not pretty!

Or see if you can find a complete outfit for your sister. Get a pretty little dress, some booties (they have good ones at Wal-Mart for cheap), socks, the works!

OR....get her a gift certificate for her daughter's first picture.

Congrats to her!!!

Awww you should make her something. I am a crafty person though. You should go to the dollar store and buy either a photo album, or picture frame, or something of that nature and decorate it. Get you some paint, hot glue, cute little girly flowers, anything pertaining to a baby and glue it on there. If you were my sister making something for my baby, I personally would like a personalized photo album. You could even get a piece or cheap fabric and hot glue it and decorate the photo album on top of the fabric. Get paint, put the babys name, with jewels, sequins, buttons, flowers, ribbon or anything like that. Walmart has lots of CHEAP things in the craft and sewing section. You should have fun shopping for the supplies also. Good luck and best wishes. ;-)

I have a couple of suggestions--a photo frame, a letter from you to be opened on a special occassion in her life like 16th birthday, graduation day, wedding day, etc. Or, and although it isn't exactly sentimental, more practical is the book Doctor's Book of Home Remedies for Children.

Cute! You could get her a blanket, embroidered with her name and birth date on it--that would be really special, and those aren't that expensive. Check out www.thingsremembered.com for personalized things like that.

I agree with the diapers answer, but I will suggest the book "Guess how much I love you" or even a gift card to a photo studio or photo development store. Hope that helps!
