The (distorted) world according to CNN:

India: a miserable country, where everybody lives in the middle of a lot of waste. All the children are prostitutes (the land of lost children). This crazy and dirty people have a strange and demoniac religion that makes them to take a shower in the sewerage system.

Great Britain: land of the Queen, drag queens and Tony Blair (gradual increase).

China: the most beautiful democracy in the world.

Russia: another miserable and anti-American dictatorship.

Mexico: Where is it? Is it an American island?

Brazil: 50% of the people live in the jungle. The other half lives in caves with a lot of waste inside. And don’t forget the prostitutes along the beach (and their mad dictator, Lula).

Iraq: In the beginning, they were demoniac apes. Today they are odd people that explode everything. Their soul will be saved by the American’s mercy.

Iran: a mad immoral Arabian country, where women are tortured. They are the reincarnation of devil

Venezuela: a giant and important South American state controlled by a small and obese Ompa-Loompa.

Africa: a country where everybody lives with gorillas and giraffes. There is an extreme problem with mosquitoes (it seems that they love to walk in your face).

USA: a benevolent country where everybody just thinks and talks about war.

Who will be the next victim?

News are taken from sources but usually distorted to serve the interests of CNN and its sponsors.

You've hit upon a novel way to illustrate how biased mainstream journalism is.

I used to work in sales for the Brazilian airline. We were constantly vexed with ridiculous news reports about how dangerous it was in Rio de Janeiro. This is what typically would happen: a journalist would ask for a free trip to Rio in order to write a story for a newspaper or magazine. The airline and hotel operators would graciously give them everything for free. This journalist would have a fantastic trip, staying at elegant resorts south of Rio, laying on the beach, attending night club shows, or shopping.

However, this is not the kind of story that sells, so the story actually written would be one of roaming gangs of children who steal everything in their path, poverty, and prostitution. The journalist typically would never see any of this himself. He would get the information second hand.

Every story about Mexico makes it appear like everyone is extremely poor and desperate. Most Mexicans they show on tv are fat and unattractive. Coincidence?

What is this love affair the journalists have with China? It's utterly baffling.

All Middle Eastern countries are depicted like it's around 1920. According to CNN and others, the whole Middle East is one big desert.

I haven't watched a network news program in ages. I love Fox News. They don't purposely distort reality to fit an agenda.

My comment about Fox News: Other "news" programs distort the truth by editing the material they film. I even saw that 60 Minutes will re-record the interviewer's question to make it sound more intelligent and clever. So sometimes the question the person is answering isn't really the same as what you see on tv. They try to make the interviewee look like some clueless schmuck, while they polish the video of the interviewer. It's shockingly biased. Fox doesn't play these games. Fox is live.

Sure, Sean Hannity needs to be muzzled sometimes. He doesn't let the guest talk enough. Alan Colmes needs to be more forceful in reigning him in, but Colmes usually makes sure the guest gets a fair shot at making his point.

You can't ask for fairer than Bill O'Reilly. He ends an interview with "The Final Word", in which he allows the guest to wrap it up in 30 seconds without interruption. This never happens on mainstream tv. They edit the hell out of everything almost to the ludicrous standards of Michael Moore.

all news coverage - t.v., radio, cable, paper, whatever is only about one thing now - advertising money. I was a reporter for 25 years and watched the industry go from a legit opportunity for the American people to be given the truth to a pathetic vehicle guided by advertisers. There is little truth in any news media that carries ads. Little mags with no ads and only subscriptions usually tell honest stories. the rest don't.

Well I love Fox's statement that there fair and balanced...the way Bill O'Reilly and Hannity and Combs are always yelling and screaming and don't let people talk when they interview them.....there no better.
