A quick visit to an hair salon will give you tons of options. There are lots of styles that can just be done with a pair of scissors. The key is that you will have to accept that your son's hair will be a little longer than you or he might be used to.

There's that horrible movie "pudding basin" style that can be done with scissors. You see it on kids in those "heartwarming" afternoon movies.
