i bought a dell pc about 4 months ago and it came with windows vista....i wanted xp. i found that vista is not compatible with ALOT!! i wanted to get xp from dell and they said it was 199.99 from them. they also had to install it if i wanted to keep my dell support (that i paid extra for). if i istalled it on my own i would no longer get the dell support, anyways my pc didnt come with a disc to wipe its memory either...could i buy xp fom best buy and put it on myself?? how do i erase the pc without the disc to do so?? any help would be appreciated!!

the way round this one is as follows

you get onto Dell and tell them you bought the computer on the understanding that they said it was compatible with Vista, and that it as proved not to be the case.. and you would like to have it removed and xp, put in its place tell them that XP home OEM version cost $110.00 should you have to buy it from another supplier

also remind them that they are being taken to court in New York for their false climes about their systems... don't be put off by the geeks that work for them they are only employees and tech support dont work for dell anyway,,

when you talk to them just tell them that your recording the conversation and anything and everything will be used later,, ask for the name of the person your talking to, write everything down

you'll need to buy an xp home cd. from anywhere. incert cd and allow xp home to be installed over vista.
what programs are not functioning for you? i have dell xps410 w/vita.

i haven't found a single program/website with any problems using windows vista.
