It seems like all of the pedophiles that I hear of are religious, or believe in God. I know there has to be some, but this area of dementia seems to be dominated by religious people, or those who believe in God.
Why is this?

The majority of this country is christian so it stands to reason that most of the criminals are too.

This question is like how can atheists have morals. Both questions don't make a bit on sense.

Speaking from a professional standpoint, men who are pedophiles are frequently brought to a religious faith while in prison. They were however not necessarily men of faith before they were caught. I think you may be talking about some priests or other religious leaders that have been found to be of this persuasion. Religious leaders are not more free of sin than are anyone else...in fact, simply being in a position of power probably makes the temptations even greater. However, I am not making excuses for them. Sin is sin. Again speaking professionally, I doubt if the men I observe in our corrections system received anywhere near the publicity as do these more public figures so perhaps it just seems that religion plays a role.

Of course! Just because someone says that they believe in God does not mean they really do or that they follow His ways. I watched a documentary and all of them were never shown a religious upbringing and they were the ones on death row. The murderers who did believe rediscovered their faith when they had time to reflect on their lives in confinement without the everyday distractions.

Yeah sad enough my neighbor behind me is not religious and he is a pedophile. They come in many forms.

no because pedophilia is not associated with religion. When i hear a pedophile story unless it is of a priest, i usually don't ask about religios affiliation

No not that I know of. But that dosen't mean there aren't any. I'm sure there are pedophiles in every denomination unfortunately.

"Being religious" or claiming to be Christian does not necessarily make you a Christian.

Obviously, all pedophiles do not honestly know God, or they wouldn't be pedophiles.
