Yes they do. When animals feel very poorly or are serously wounded they shelter into holes (in trees, roofs, the ground) to nurse themselves back to health, or die trying.
Elephants have secret places where they go to die, and when they find anoter elephant's bones they wail and touch them with their trunks, in a kind of mourning ritual.
Unfortunately with pets nowadays its mostly an ijection and then being thrown in the bin or burned. They don't have a chance to die their natural ways.
And of course if they are caught, run over or die a violent death then they can be found on the spot.

I see dead birds in the street all the time! No, they generally don't fall from the sky unless they've been shot. Usually if a bird is that ill, it probably won't be able to fly anyway. As for where they go, most municipalities have a street department that picks up carcasses from roads. Or they may be eaten by other animals (raccoons, dogs, cats). OR they just decompose.
On their way up to heaven, though, they go to the Rainbow Bridge & wait for the people who love them to take them all the way to heaven ;)

Some animals struggle over to a bush (if they are capable to do so). I have seen many dead birds in the street.. in fact, I saw one last Monday in the park.. my guess is a cat got it though, so it was dead before it got the chance to die in a hidden place. That very same day I saw a dead ginger tom cat in the road. :-(
I think they try to hide so that predators don't see them and come and eat them alive. Plus so they can die in peace without cars and people rushing past.
My parent's cat (this was before I was born) was hit by a car and he crawled to the nearest bush to die. The lady who's garden it was, wasn't fond about animals but she still gave him the kiss of life to try to save him. He didn't make it.

If u r asking about birds I have to say if they get sick first thing they do is hide some where because they can't fly and they know that. And if they get better by hiding and resting they get out and eat but if not they die where they hid. But remember I am not a dead bird specialist but I do have ducks.

I don't know about birds, but I had a cat to come home to die once. He had been gone over 6 months (we just thought he had ran away or got killed away from home or something) and one day showed up, but he was sick and died a couple days later.

More likely the birds get sick and fall out of a tree to the ground. There are many scavengers that make short work of dead things, so bodies are seldom found.
