haha. by reading george carlin quotes. like the one about religion... ::::
Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more.

By getting over your own beliefs and learning to appreciate the diverse beliefs and cultures of the peoples of the world.
You need to realize that your own (unwarranted, uneducated) presuppositions prevent you from respecting the beliefs of others, and regardless of whether or not you may try to blame your standpoint on having had the displeasure of meeting Christians who are unreasonable bigots or uneducated imbeciles, your attitude makes you what is sometimes referred to colloquially as a 'bastard'.
That is to say, you are setting yourself up in a position of arrogant, unwarranted 'righteousness' which, in effect, makes your behavior no better than the behavior of those same street proselytizers and perdition-preachers which seem to annoy you so.
So, in the future, learn to separate the faults and actions of some from the body of individuals within a group. When you think of people as being homogeneous, indistinct beings living under the shadow of their 'title', you are acting in a prejudicial manner.

The antiquated and unprovable beliefs of Christians do not annoy me nearly as much as does their current political agenda. I am an irreverent agnostic and have relatives who are Christians, and (following some unpleasant disagreements in the past), we do not discuss nor debate religious topics. I am nonconvertible so far as Christianity is concerned since originally I was indoctrinated (somewhat) in the faith, but I do resent Christians' endeavors to legislate a state religion; I consider them a danger to the our Constitutionally guaranteed rights!

I'm not a Christian but I feel that it's wrong of you to generalize the whole bunch of them based on the actions of a few of them. Liberal Christians respect everybody and don't go about proselytizing their beliefs on others. They simply live their lives according to the teachings of Christ. Anyway if they annoy you then ignore them. That's it. It's as simple as that.

By seeking out and acknowledging those who do display intelligence and humility, by looking for commonalities (even if it's something small like a shared interest in a particular sport), by reminding yourself that you at least believe in others' freedom of conscience, and by walking away if the annoyance gets too thick

How can you not be annoyed by non-Christians? If you quote the Bible, they say that it proves nothing because they do not believe it is true. If you don't quote the Bible, they say that you have no evidence supporting your assertions. It's a lose-lose situation!

Well honey, I don't get annoyed by anyone who doesn't shove their beliefs in my face.
Do you hate all Islamic people because some of them have jihads on people?
Do you hate Hindus because they think it is monstrous to eat cow?
Do you hate all Pagans because (insert things some pagans do)?
Do you hate every one who has a faith system?
No, I should think not. I'm Christian. And Gay. And a liberal. And I keep my mouth shut about all of my beliefs unless someone asks or provokes me.
I have a feeling that you are annoyed by the Christians who shove their beliefs down your throat and tell you that they are better than you. Am I right?

Maybe the "Christians" you refer to are hipocrits and full of crap. A true Christian shows his faith by what he does, not what he says. If they are trying to argue their faith, they are not really convinced themselves. There are Christians who do good things and make people feel good. They inspire, not condem. You will know them by their fruit. When they pray for you, there are results. Maybe not the results you want, but results that make things right. When you meet one, keep your mind open and you will learn what it is about.
