I know this has never been answered to most people's content, but your thoughts would be nice. If you know any verses, please share them, too. (I am referring to the Christian god)

Because Satan is on this earth we will endure suffering, but because God is the ultimate say we shall be rewarded for our suffering. Since sin causes our suffering, let us make that suffering a Glorious victory for our LORD and suffer with Him in mind.

Mt 26:39 He went on a little farther and fell face down on the ground, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine."

2Co 1:7 We are confident that as you share in suffering, you will also share God's comfort.

2Co 4:10 Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

Eph 3:13 So please don't despair because of what they are doing to me here. It is for you that I am suffering, so you should feel honored and encouraged.

2Th 1:5 But God will use this persecution to show his justice. For he will make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering.

God Bless You

right at this moment I don't have Scriptures. But this is coming out of the heart and from personal experiences..But when I go through trails and suffering it has made me stronger in my faith, if I didn't have them my faith would be weaken, I would start thinking I don't need God I got it made, so each one I go through is a way my faith is tested, where do I go, who do I turn too, after turning to others and not getting the satisfaction the Only One I have to turn to is God, He has always been there for me through everything I have gone through, every suffering I have suffered every pain I felt and every tear I have cried He was there and I learned I need God more than anything in this world and without Him I just wouldn't be nothing....

What does one have to do with the other? Our suffering for the most part is brought about by either ourselves or someone else classified as a human being. Disease, poverty, crime, addictions, etc. Evil is present in this world and will continue to be present until God decides He has had enough of our nonsense and brings the world to its knees. Be glad for your trials and tribulations. It is only when you have trials that you can fully appreciate how God can help you overcome them. Look at Romans 8:28.

God did not create mind numbing robots to follow Him blindly despite what most of you think. He created man with free will to be able to choose. God does not give you one shot at choosing to believe in Him. If you recount your life unti now I am sure you will find multiple times where the name of Jesus, a christian, or even a tv sermon happened upon you. These are all attempts to reach you. But after you have hardened your heart and God can not reach you, He has to hold you accountable for your actions. That is what makes Him a righteous and just God. God sees all and desires all to believe in Him. And I hope you will as well.

This may not always be the case, but i think that sometimes God allows us to go through trials and suffering in order that we may learn to appreciate the simple things. if you think about it...............you cannot appreciate good health, unless you have at least once been ill. only then will you truly realize what a blessing good health is. if you've never personally been ill, then you've been living good health all your life, and it has become a norm to you. we tend to take things that are the "norm" for granted. only when this "norm" is removed and replaced with a brief moment of adversity do we realize what a blessing with which we have been living all our lives. the man who can see, goes temporarily blind, and then has his vision restored will tend to appreciate the gift of vision more than a man who has never once gone blind. these trials and sufferings sometimes help us to appreciate the little things in life, and it is sometimes the little things in our sight that are actually great things in God's sight.

It's a test to see who's truly faithful. Look up the story in your bible or a bible in case you don't have one. And Read about Job . In the story of Job Satan tells god that Job will disobey him if Job's life is full of misery and god says no he won't. So Satan says let's see what happens and he sends all these horrible things upon Job. Job having lost his family, workers, animals, crops, home, and pretty much anything else still believes in god and faithfully devotes his life to god. The morale of the story is that god is testing our faith by tribulations. He's just in doing this because he see's who the true followers are. Oh and Job lives a happier life later on. So you are rewarded by keeping faith in god.
I hope this helps.
BTW: I summed up the story of Job myself but you can read it in the bible to learn more. Read the book of Job.

God does not exist to cater to our every whim. God is not a genie in a bottle who grants 3 wishes after being rubbed. God is the Creator of Heaven and Earth, high above every ruler. Does the pot ask the potter, "Why have you made me thus?" We exist to glorify God, not the other way around.

Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:2-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so our comfort overflows through Christ. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is experienced in the endurance of the same sufferings that we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that as you share in the sufferings, so you will share in the comfort.
2 Corinthians 1:3-7

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose. For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers. And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified; and those He justified, He also glorified.
Romans 8:28-30

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.NIV This verse develops the thought introduced at the end of verse 27. Paul emphasizes that the Spirit's efforts on our behalf are carried out in full agreement with God's will, to bring us to maturity. This is expressed elsewhere by Paul: "He chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight" (Ephesians 1:4 niv).

Everything that happens to us in this life is directed toward that goal. What happens may not itself be "good," but God will make it work to our ultimate good, to meet his ultimate goal for our life. In the kjv this well-known verse reads, "All things work together for good to them that love God . . . "The wording is smooth and familiar but, unfortunately, can lead to a misunderstanding of Paul's point. God works all things for good, not "all things work out." Suffering will still bring pain, loss, and sorrow, and sin will bring shame. But under God's control, the eventual outcome will be for our good.

God works behind the scenes, ensuring that even in the middle of mistakes and tragedies, good will result for those who love him. At times this will happen quickly, often enough to help us trust the principle. But there will also be events whose results for good we will not know until eternity. Paul knew this from his own experience: "Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel" (Philippians 1:12 niv); I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 niv).

So He can grade our paper. Ok , so maybe I should have said to test our metal. and to test our faith. If you have faith ,trials and suffering only makes you stronger. That is what god is looking for. It is written that a number of apostles / disciples considered it a blessing to suffer for god. I got 4 thumbs down very quickly. Now I know what is meant by " the bums rush".
