Wicca is a religion found in various countries throughout the world. It was first popularised in 1954 by a retired British civil servant named Gerald Gardner.[1] He claimed that the religion, of which he was an initiate, was a modern survival of an old witchcraft religion, which had existed in secret for hundreds of years, originating in the pre-Christian Paganism of Europe. Wicca is thus sometimes referred to as the Old Religion. The veracity of Gardner's claims cannot be independently proven, and it is thought that Wiccan theology began to be compiled no earlier than the 1920s.[2]

Various related Wiccan traditions have since evolved or been adapted from the form established by Gardner, which came to be called Gardnerian Wicca. These other traditions of Wicca each have distinctive beliefs, rituals, and practices. Many traditions of Wicca remain secretive and require that members be initiated. There is also a movement of Eclectic Wiccans who do not believe that any doctrine or traditional initiation is necessary in order to practice Wicca.[3] The 2001 American Religious Identification Survey estimated that at least 134,000 adults identified themselves as Wiccans in the United States.[4]

in other words, a religion that worships in the pagan, I don't call it that, but they worship gods of the earth/the earth and stuff.

Unfortunately, a lot of people are attracted to Wicca because it looks "kewl." The whole witchcraft aspect, while it is a serious part, is only PART and it's important to remember that Wicca is a religion and not a hobby.

Religion is special for me. It's what I believe in and I take that very seriously.

Wicca is an earth based Spiritual religion and is ruled by both a Goddess and a God. There is much respect for the divinity of nature which God & Goddess created together.

If you're interested in it, I highly recommend Scott Cunningham's "Wicca For The Solitary Practitioner" and Janet & Stewart Farrar's "The Witch's Bible Compleat".

Wicca is an eclectic religious belief system centering around gods, goddesses, and nature worship. Gary Cantrell, a well known Wiccan author says Wicca is based on "harmony with nature and all aspects of the god and goddess divinity." Wiccan practice involves the manipulation of nature through various rituals in attempts to gain power, prestige, love, or whatever else a Wiccan wants. It uses symbols in its ceremonies and follows the calendar in reference to Wiccan festivals. Its roots are in ancient agrarian Celtic Society. It is considered Neo Pagan (based on old European and pre-Christian belief systems). Wicca does not have a structure of clergy and/or congregations. But it does have priests and priestesses which are in leadership positions within covens that have witches.

Generally, Wiccans do not believe in the existence of a devil (they are not Satan worshippers). They have no orgies or public displays of sexuality in their rituals (though some Wiccan traditions practice nudity and sexuality not open to the public), no bestiality, and no blood sacrifices. They do not practice spells with the intention to harm people. They deny that there are moral absolutes, believe that nature is divine, and seek to be in harmony with the earth/nature.

People who practice Wicca claim they are not worshipping satan and there is no designation or specific stated belief in a being called satan, however however whether they know it or not, whether they admit it or not, the power in their religious practices and ceremonies all comes from satan. They are all terribly confused and lost and decieved and deluded blinded people. IT is terribly sad that humans can be so decieved by the power of satan to be actually worshipping him and totally controlled by him and not even know that is what they are doing.

Those of you who may have read what I just wrote and who are Wiccans, stop playing dumb on this subject. There are only two supernatural power figures in this universe. One is satan the evil side, the dark side and the other is the only one true creator God of the Bible. The side of light and truth and glory. A human can serve only one of these two powerful superhuman beings. Humans have no other choice, but to choose to be for God or for satan. THe vast majority of people who have ever lived and currently live on this earth are serving satan whether they know it or admit it or not. GET REAL PEOPLE! THIS IS AN OPEN AND SHUT CASE. There is no other option. YOu are either on the right side or the wrong side. If you are not on the right side you are on satan's side. Any supernature power you think you are getting from nature you are getting from satan. HELLOOOOOOOOOO ANY BODY IN THERE.

ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME???????????/ THis is it. Now get over yourselves already. STOP TRYING TO TELL EVERYONE YOU DON"T WORSHIP SATAN. YOU ARE. YOUR POWER ALL COMES FROM HIM. Wake up and smell the coffee brewin'. You are all on the DARK SIDE! YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WIN. YOU ARE GOING DOWN FOR THE COUNT. YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE THE BIG PERMANENT DIRT NAP. YOU WILL CEASE TO EXIST FOR ALL TIME. JUST LIKE YOUR MASTER THE DEVIL. HE WILL TAKE THE DIVE WITH YOU. IT IS ALL OVER BUT THE LAST ACT WHICH WILL SOON PLAY OUT.

some of my friends practise it. I thought that it was like....witchcraft and stuff but although it involves some "potion" and stuff, it's mostly about renewing friendships, relationships and how to keep with your inner peace. It's a really good thing for some people but I'm not into it. They go and collect stuff at the beaches, stuff that represents the different elements. Right, they're really big on that, the different elements. But yeah. To my friends that do it, it's a huge thing that really keeps them going and deal with tough stuff. They don't believe in stuff like Christianity (which I do) but they aren't against it either (I'm pretty sure. O.o) They believe that they're are several goddesses. Ok. Good luck

Wicca is a branch of Paganism - its a very ancient religious practice that was prevalent in Britain before Christianity took over.

It's a form of nature worship - the Earth itself is a deity, a goddess who deserves reverence and worship.

However you will probably get a bunch of people saying it is Devil-worship - this is not true. The association with devil-worship is Christian propaganda dating back hundreds of years, that was an attempt to steer the populace away from paganism and to take up Christianity instead.
