I've noticed that the door to door missionaries that come to my house are mostly JW's or Mormons, why?

Why is it that these two branches feel the need to do this more than other Christian branches? Most churches just send out flyers, or advertisements. Why does it seem that most of the door to door missionaries of Jehovah Witnesses or Mormons?

It is not that the need is greater to pass along the faith...it is just that other religions do not have it organized as well.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints aka Mormon Church, I believe the authorized church of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth in 1830 after many years of apostasy. This was even for-told in the New Testament. The restored church is complete with fully authorized (called of God) prophets and apostles and continuing revelation from God to help us through the trials of our age.

This is why I served as a full time missionary for 2 years in Brazil and is why there are 50,000 full time missionaries serving throughout the world teaching of this restoration.

This is also why I spend some time on Yahoo Answers since among the spam there is periodically a thoughtful question about God.

well I'm a JW, & we do everything for free, we don't solict for money. We offer to help people learn more about the Bible . So that they can make an informed decision based on true Bible knowledge,

The Bible is not corrupted, the truth can be found in all bibles

We have a commision from Jesus Christ (to all of his deciples, of which I am one)

(Matthew 28:19-20) . . .Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. . .

(Acts 20:20) . . .while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house. . .

why don't you take the time to ask some bible questions next time the Witnesses come by

Because that is what they do. Some churches send out flyer's advertise but the Church i attend does none of these. we feel people around the US has the opportunity to hear the word without all that stuff. We do send missionaries to other countries that have not be touch by the word of God.

JWs do it because we are told to by Jesus. Matt. 24:14 is only one of several places where it is shown we do as they did back then. It is the only real way to truly get the sense of how a person thinks. It is the best method of teaching, one on one.

I can't speak for the Mormons.

Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking a peaceful preacher. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.


Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

Even tho I do not agree with their false teaching .I have to give credit where it is due.They are more dedicated than other churches. I am baptist and we go out door to door to invite people to come to church.But not all baptist do that.

They all do it, some more than others and I will tell you why. They are spreading what is known as a MEME (sounds like dream). A meme is something that can only keep existing if it is spread to another host. It is a parasite. In order for Christianity, and all other spiritual religions to keep on going they have to be spread to other hosts, just like all of the other parasites. Do yourself a favor, and do not answer the door!

They will say that it is fulfilling the Great Commission. I believe it is because their religion compels them.

Of the two religions that do this, both are in agreement that Jesus is not God incarnate as well as believe the Bible has been corrupted by man. Hence the need for a special translation or addendums like the Book of Mormon.
