I am all there with you. I have no idea if he
truly truly does or not. Probably-maybe he
does but the raped and killed people....I don't
think they deserve that. I dont think it happened
for a good reason.
And when good things do happen;
why does God get all the credit?

I agree with you on that. I had a Bible teacher tell me that ALL women who were raped deserved/provoked it in someway. They must have been in a bar in a skanky outfit at one time, etc to deserve what they got. I asked him about the old women asleep in their beds that get attacked and brutalized...he didn't have an answer. I am not saying all Christians or religious people think that way, but a Southern Baptist man told me that once.

it's true, he does... but lets take the person in question that's about to get killed or raped, he/she might have turned away from God before the killings or something so he can't protect those that don't even believe in him...
Or say God had to decide between who it is that gets killed.. he'd choose those who's time it had to be... basically no death is unwarranted or overlooked by God... but death and killing does happen because of HUMAN NATURE that's just how it is, and God does whatever he can to make it less impactful.
My WHOLE FUKKIN life has been a test of faith, and i am a really good person because of it. I am thoroughly blessed to be the man that i am.

i am a Pagan, and this may not be the answer that you are looking for. but quite simply.
the gods are responsible for our spiritual lives. and have some power to make our earthly lives better. but they are not responsible for everything that happens. they cannot stop a man from killing me or raping my daughter. but they can give me the strength to stop him from doing either.
people are much too willing to arrtibute all of their ills to the whims of a god. when in fact we are here to live a mortal life with little interference from any god. they will help us as they are benevolent creatures. but they do not control everything that happens. we are ultimatly responsible for our own lives.
you have the ability to make your own life. i will not tell you that bad things will not happen. but how you allow these things to effect your life is your choice.

religion serves many purposes:
1. makes people feel superior to others and thus makes them tolerate their otherwise shitty existence
2. helps them become less accountable to others and less responsible as they believe, as you said, "everything happens for a reason"
3. it is an economic force. think about all the money that the catholic church generates. compare the lives of those people sitting and listening to the preacher, to the preacher himself. the preacher drives a Mercedes and the people take the bus to church. yet, they never stop donating, never question the practices of the church.

dont take this the bad way, but you just dont know or understand enough to see the big picture.my sister was raped and we all went through a bad time with it..he went to jail for 4 years and hes probably on the loose by now, but screw that. all i know is it has had its affects, good and bad, on all of us, not just my sis. you have to see the big picture.
now, if you dont want my opinion, then look at the survivors of the concentration camps from WWII. all the jews that still believe in god? they have obviously got a good reason for it. we will never know what it was they went through. a friken nightmare beyond insane imagination. but they believe, after going to hell and back. they still believe. so if you think that you have the right to decide whether or not god is there just by the way your day went today, think again.

Some people believe God has a plan and everything that happens is part of that plan. Like hurrican katrina- some people believe God did that. I believe weather did that.

Because they can not accept that bad things just happen.
There HAS to be a good reason why Granny was hit by that bus.
They are willing to suspend all logic and reasoning to support that desire.

Man made a choice a long time ago to leave God. He wanted to rule the people, and guide them directly. But as men we wanted a king that we could see (normal). Our kings led us into trouble and we kept crawling back to God, now we have messed up and no one is going back. We blame Him and refuse to ask for help, that is the problem. We don't want God to help but want to blame Him for not helping.

If anything bad happens to a devout christian it's "a test from god". That's why they can just keep believing.
