I wonder how the word Christian has went from ascetic peace seeker to fear mongering Gonzalez and other Attny Generals who used their office to promote own views and discourage others

even more curious is how Fox News has become nothing more than state sponsored / corporate sponsored fear/hate of others, supposedly 'God fearing', supposedly "fair and ballanced" but really an entertainment and nothing about reporting facts just "talking points" that are prejudiced

I wonder if any Christians still support Bush as "their man of God" given his attrocious track record and decline of the standing of the US since his take over and promotion of wars, scandals and Faith Based Initiatives that failed in Texas but failed on a National Scale in White House

Thank you for posting this question. I tried to have a discussion once in a polisci course and this girl said he was "The King" and he would "slay the head of the snake" etc etc...she was serious. She couldn't even see all the religious imagery she used! LMAO what a kook, it's one thing to support him and a whole other to make it a crusade!

PPL don't even realize when they see Fox news say it is 'fair and balanced' is a way of brainwashing them...not even really subliminal. I don't like this with all religions though. PPL hear ppl say, 'this is the way it is' and they just believe it w/o even looking at another point of view. Maybe they like the person saying it, or was told that this person is great, or is kind etc. those things may be but who said every word out of their mouth is accurate no matter what there intentions are?' I am religious but I study a lot and even try to confront things that make me uncomfortable. I AM NOT PERFECT. I am just trying to learn...

he dug us into a rut...i hope we manage to get out

Actually, media has little to do with my opinion on Christianity. I grew up in it. I will admit I grew up in a fairly fundamentalist environment, but I have witnessed the same harm from even more liberal groups. But while you are sitting there asking why he doesnt recognize the other people, the ones who dont feel that way, YOU are doing the exact same thing. Many athiests dislike the generalization of Christianity, and truly support freedom of religion. Yet all you can talk about yourself are religious fanatics who go over board, as you complain of athiests doing the same thing. Its a never ending circle. If you really have a problem with it, do YOUR part to break it. It IS a 2 way street.

As a die hard liberal hippie commie democrat I NEVER voted for anyone named Bush. If we had re-elected Ann Richards we would not be in Iraq today.

I am disheartened that my country that I love looks like a bunch of stupid idiots to the rest of the world. No, worse, war mongering, stupid idiot liars.

I think Bush has helped our cause. Many people will not vote Democrat or Independent because of the candidate so much as they will vote AGAINST any Republican that runs. I am so hoping that we come up with someone better than Hilary. I love Bill but I don't think she is sincere.

Texas re-elected Bush Jr, Rick Perry, ONLY because there were too many other candidates running against him. Any of the others would have been preferable but they took away from each other.

People have to support those that best represent their conscience. I find it hard to support any politician because the simple fact that this is a democracy makes it impossible for even the best of the best to have much power. Bush is not alone in his attitudes or purposes any more than is any other politician. It is all a matter of perspective. The same thing holds true for the news networks. CNN is just as guilty of prejudicial reporting...only on the liberal side. I do not worry about who is right...In fact I have given up on listening to their opinions at all. I simply try to listen to God and work away in my own little corner of the world. To do my best to serve his purpose.

THANK YOU! I have no problem with genuine Christians or for that matter, genuine anyone, but Bush is such a dumbass. I didn't vote for him. The whole world is stuck in this - Iranians are stuck under someone they don't like, as are the people of many other nations. Check out avaaz.org

Yeah, wait till America gets a closer look at this Surgeon General nominee. Freaky. I always thought SG ought to at least be a good scientist, but apparently that is not a required qualification for that job.

If the bible is accurate on the views of Jesus, this stuff would infuriate him. The actions that people do 'in the name of God' (whatever God they might believe in) are reprehensible. Bush, and Fox news do not behave in manners respectful of the teachings of Jesus.
In fact, most people don't.

I'm christian and I never backed Bush because of his religion. I didn't even vote for him actually, either time, but I will stand behind any president of this country, because, hey, he's our president. I may not agree with him, but he's all we've got until we vote again. Actually, its frightening, we could end up with something worse. We could end up with Hilary, which I think would be a catastrophe, since she doesn't seem to have any issues important enough to actually stand up for. She bends with public opinion. People that won't stand up for their beliefs really scare me. I expect the leader of our country to have some ethics and strength. I never supported Bush as "a man of God", I never supported him at all, but he is what we voted for. As for Fox News, I find it very entertaining.

President Bush is not our man.. He didn't get prayer back in schools or abortion not legal any more. We do pray for our leaders and support him over all.
