how many of you give thumbs down to people just because you don't agree with their answer, even if it's a well thought out, well supported answer?

Yes..... because I disagree with it... thats how I rate answers. If I agree you get a thumbs up (unless your rude) and if I disagree you get thumbs down (unless your very nice AND make on heck of a good point)

I give them mostly when someone tries to speak for us atheists that isn't one. They always say something really stupid.
I give thumbs up when I think the answer is right, or is a good answer to the question.

I agree, I give thumbs down to people who call names like two year olds. Or who crash posts that weren't directed to them.

if the answer is simply dogma, rhetoric or people following party lines, especially religious ones

I have given thumbs up for truth even if it is from a known pundit of religion for their well made point

Just because someone disagrees with me doesn't mean that their points aren't valid.
Like Pangel said, I usually thumbs-down people who are being unnecessarily offensive. And people who copy and paste 15 paragraphs of pure plagiarism.

honestly...if I don't agree I thumbs down for the most part UNLESS it sound intelligent and not necessarily a biased opinion.

I'm a grammar nazi. I give people thumbs down for poor spelling/grammar sometimes.
Like lilmisskato who spelled 'your' wrong.
