I don't spend my time worrying about other Christians. I certainly don't feel "desperate" about them. It takes enough effort just to keep up with my own affairs, and there are also Biblical warnings against judging others. Going to church makes sense to me, personally, but some people may see things differently. Many of my atheist friends do have a well-developed sense of morality, and I respect that.

Yes, I believe there are many who "call" themselves Christians, and don't act the way Christians are supposed to be. It scares me for them. I try to walk in Jesus' footsteps, but, like everyone else, I stumble once in a while. I am human, and I am not perfect. No one is. As the body of Christ,we are suppose to lift each other up, and pick each other up when we see each other falling. A lot of times that doesn't happen. It's easier just to look the other way, and not get invovled. We are to strive for perfection, but we will never achieve it. Only Jesus is perfect. The walk isn't easy. It's really hard. It isn't fun and games. Yes, I see others doing things they shouldn't, and I pray for them, as well as try to tell them what God says about what they're doing. I pray that they will do the same for me, if they see me doing something wrong.
As for going to church, I am all for going. I have a pastor who preaches the whole word of God, and is on fire for the Lord. I go there to get the blessing of the message, and to worhsip and fellowship with other believers. Church makes all the sense in the world to me. As a matter of fact, it gets me out of the world for a while.
No, I don't know any atheists who act more like Christians should. How could they? They don't believe in God. As for your last question, has WHAT ever happened to me???? God Bless

Many christians, with the advent of the Christian right, and the rise in fundamentalism or "fundies", and I will not dignify them by calling them evangelicals, have forgaton the basics, oddly enough. Love God, love others, do not judge. No human is adequate to judge another. We are incapable of knowing the human heart. Jesus very clearly stated these. Yes, many who cal themselves christians today are more folowers of St. Paul than of Jesus Christs. They seem to follow a misinterpretation of St. Pauls letters more than the gospels. This writting is not meant in anyway to condone sin, but the way many on the relisgous right look down on others to prop themselves up, and support policies that are not charitable and even mean sprited to those who find themselves in poverty is not Christlike.

I feel many Christians do not act as though they are Christians. I do see a point of going to church. I do know of atheists and agnostics who set better examples than may Christians.

I am NOT a Christian, but I don't believe that most people who CLAIM to be Christian follow what is consider a "Christian" lifestyle. I grew up in a Christian family, I found my life calling in the Wiccan path, and my family has condemned me ever since. Even to the point of lieing in court to take my daughter away from me....

as a former christian (catholic) and current atheist, i can safely say that part of the reason for my leaving the church was the intense hypocrisy. i can't tell you how many people would just waltz into churches and ask for forgiveness and feel great. mind you, these ppl would be as sinful as can be. i have worked with ppl who claim they don't need to treat others better because according to his christian beliefs, they were supposed to forgive him no matter what.
as an atheist, i still have as many morals and ethics as a christian "should". i live by the golden rule (do unto others as you'd like them to do unto you); respect all ppl regardless of color, gender, creed etc; don't hurt animals; do not preach my beliefs to others; and try to be as honest as possible...
so here's another fallen soldier.

Yeah. That's when I focus on my own walk instead of others.
I try to walk in the steps of Jesus.
I go to church to worship God, and to learn.
I try to act the way a Christian should.
I can only speak for myself, and I can only control myself.
