Sometimes headaches are caused by stress. There are certain triggers for everyone that will trigger a headache. Such as too loud music, lights, noise, certain situations, etc. It would be good if you could eliminate the stress in your life, but I know that's not always possible. The best thing to do is to see a doctor and keep taking your pain pills. Also try resting for a few minutes a day, with no lights, sounds, or nothing, just lie down, put a eye cover thing over your eyes, maybe an ice pack on your head, and try to relax, this always does the trick for me. Get better!

Is it throbbing? Migraines are vascular (blood vessel) headaches, so they throb. You may not get sick when you get a migraine--I don't. Also, the headache could be a tension headache. try going to the chiropractor and get adjusted (that's always what my headaches are from). Or do you usually get a lot of caffeine in your diet? Sometimes a lack of caffeine if you get it often can cause BAD headaches. Try taking Midol or Pamprin--these pain relievers have caffeine in them. Also, it depends what pain killers you're taking. Ibuprofen isn't for headaches, it usually doesn't work on most headache causes. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is okay, but aspirin is the best thing for headaches OTC. Also, you should get an MRI or CT scan--it could be a brain tumor.

This is only one option of course, but I get bad headaches when I'm dehydrated. Usually a couple glasses of water and a couple of hours fixes me right up. I am prone to migraines also though and sometimes I have to resort to taking medication. Next time you talk to your doctor (and for your sake I hope it's soon) ask about a medication I have, I have a drug called Maxalt. It's perfect if you get sick when you get a migraine because it just dissolves on your tongue. Usually within 1/2 an hour it's gone.

Try this: take a Tylenol and a Robax (back pain pill) with an entire can of Coke. This was recommended to me once when I had a migraine at work and no Maxalt with me. It worked just as well and just as fast.

I have one right now and I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes, I get headaches that excruitiating - they are worrying. I sometimes feel "spacey", sick (although never am) and even after they have gone I feel exhausted. It is very common to have headaches around the time of the month - called menstrual migranes. No medication seems to ease the pain. I am going to try Migraleve next time - my friends tell me these work. Also, if you are in the UK, it is very hot at the moment and that could cause headaches.

You need to go to a doctor and get a cat scan, they can usually tell you the cause of your headaches. I have migraines, I had a wreck and I have 3 protruding disc that have not herniated, if they herniate you can get surgery to correct this problem. I know my migraines start on the left side right above my eye and I get sick when I first wake up , start throwing up all day long until it turns into dry heaves and you can't get the bed because up you'll come and it makes me so sick from 7 to 7 and finally you'll throw up it looks like greenish mucus and then you can get your medicine to stop your headache , but while your having them ,there is no need to waste your medicine because all comes right back up. Best of luck to You.

It's very possible that this could be a migraine as the person you talked to said. Another possibility is that of sinus issues such as a sinus infection or chronic sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses, this is different from an actual sinus infection). I would recommend seeing your dr to see what they think and if they confirm that this is a migraine I would recommend a consultation with a migraine specialist. These are drs that are neurologists (they treat diseases and disorders of the brain as well as nerves) that specifically deal with migraines all day long. They may be able to help you control the pain from these headaches.

There are several causes for headaches/ migraines. Food allergies, environmental changes/ allergies, medication allergies, stress, fatigue, and menstruation (for women) are the big ones. When a headache lasts for that long a period of time and doesn't respond to your typical pain medications it is likely a migraine. Just because your migraine is not manifesting itself like your mother's migraines, it does not mean it isn't one. If you have a neurologist, call him/ her and describe your pain and efforts to alleviate your pain. If you do not have a neurologist, make an appointment with your primary care physician. In the event that you cannot see your primary care physician, or you do not have one, go to the Emergency Department at your local hospital.

We have treated 15 - 20 yrs cases.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

Sometimes it is because you are'nt drinking enough water during the day. I use to get wicked bad headaches all the time and I had to start carrying around a bottle of water and filling it up three or four times away. My headaches went away once I started doing this, and I really only get them if I haven't been drinking water.
