yea but there are millions of different kind of species of animals, plus there are animals that eat other animals. and noah just brought several people with him and they populated the earth? how do u explain the different races that exist today? what race was noah? if he was in the desert, how did he get all that wood and how did he get the animals to cooperate and get into his boat? how did we even know his name was noah if the bible was written way after...maybe the story changed over a long period of time like they usually do?

Noah/flood = common metaphorical flood story that is rife with symbolism & not meant to be taken literally.

Shorty Babe and Opinionated already answered your question. God the first weatherman told Noah to build the ark cause it was going to rain. There is no record of any boats but even if they had one it would not have survived the deluge that lasted over one year. They would have ran out of food long before. Also there might be stories in some flood legends around the world that another boat was built and saved those people too. But leads to back to your question. Why would they build a boat? They would know to have supplies too to last over one year.

If you are seriously wondering about this, I can tell you what the Bible says about this. If it was not for God saving Noah, he would not have made it either. Stated from Genesis, "The waters kept rising, the flood deepened on the Earth, the ship floated on the surface. The flood got worse until all the highest mountains were covered--the high water mark reached twenty feet above the crest of the mountains. Everything died. Anything that moved--dead...........The flood waters took over for 150 days"

good question!
the Quoran suggests that 86 people survived the flood.
the "other" manuscript of the "flood" suggests that Noah was only swept aside from one part of the world to another. This story may or may not be Noah but clearly leaves room for doubt about many inhabitants of the earth still suriving only a few miles away.
The book of Genesis clearly says that NOAH was the ONLY perfect person saved in his generation. This can apply to geneaology but might mean that he was the only Truly saved soul on the earth while everyone else fell under judgment.

They might have been in boats when the deluge started, but then there are other problems.

No food or fresh water for a year.
No place to land the boat.
Brain hemorrhages from cursing God.
Exposure.

PS: Noah didn't build a boat, it was an ark which is a chest or box. It only had to be able to float and handle rough seas, not navigate.

no .because the place where he lived where originally a huge desert...when God ordered Noah(pbuh) to build the boat and wait for the sign...the people used to mock him and ask him where the hell he's going to sale it?in the sand?
he completed the boat, and the sign of the rain and the water bursting out of furnace,he knew it was time.he asked people to get into the raft but no one did except his believers...he called his son to come,he refused and told him that he'll climb the mountain and he won't drown...but Noah knew that there will be no dry land to stay on...and he turned to God and asked to save his son,but God told him to be strong and told him that he was no good use as he wasn't a believers.......

God told Noah to build a boat , Noah told the other people what will happen, but they called him crazy , and laughed in his face. when the flood started , the people cried to Noah, and told him to let them in, but Noah didn't let them in

They were too busy laughing at Noah and his family. After the rain started, which it had never done before, the ark was sealed. "I hear you knocking, but you can't come in."

"God" did not bother to tell anyone else to build a boat. "He" was content to just let everyone else, and every living, innocent land animal (except of course the "pairs" of animals, and dinosaurs that were on the "ark") drown. Pretty nice, huh.
