.AVI files malfunctioning?

My .avi videos turned into sound-only: I can't see the video but can hear the sound. A step by step guide would be appreciated.

There is probably nothing wrong with your AVI files, but do check the video output and graphic settings of your video player.

Test your video player with another format to see if everything works. Things don't just disappear from files....
