sorry... anyone that takes his/her own life is... on the highway to hell.
It says int he bible that you're not spposed to even inflict and pain or damage on your body but killin yourself reaches beyond that plus the commandment "Thou shall not kill" and that includes yourself.

I am so sorry to here about your friend, that is a very hard question to answer; most people would say she has gone to hell because she took her own life, but I think that she could have been saved in the eleventh hour even if she was trying to kill herself and an instant before death she repented God in his mercy could save her soul. I know that is not the answer you want to here but there is no answer. I lost my niece from a rare liver diesease, she had a bible in her hospital room so I know she was seeking God in her last days of this life so I prey for her soul and believe God was merciful, that is all I can do.

The rule against suicide is an Old Testament one. She may have been highly stressed and not thinking straight. If she genuinely believed, and then was tricked by horrendous pressures (possibly orchestrated by Satan) into a crazy action, she probably wasn't even thinking straight. Strictly speaking we all get to heaven through grace anyhow. Still, she has missed an opportunity to make something more of later years of her life. She sounds like she was a great person.

well first lets see what God says the condition of the dead are
(John 11:11-14) . . .He said these things, and after this he said to them: “Laz′a‧rus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep.” 12 Therefore the disciples said to him: “Lord, if he has gone to rest, he will get well.” 13 Jesus had spoken, however, about his death. But they imagined he was speaking about taking rest in sleep. 14 At that time, therefore, Jesus said to them outspokenly: “Laz′a‧rus has died. . .
(John 11:21-24) 21Â Martha therefore said to Jesus: “Lord, if you had been here my brother would not have died. 22Â And yet at present I know that as many things as you ask God for, God will give you.” 23Â Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” 24Â Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) 5 For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all,. . .
(Ecclesiastes 3:18-21) 18Â I, even I, have said in my heart with regard to the sons of mankind that the [true] God is going to select them, that they may see that they themselves are beasts. 19Â For there is an eventuality as respects the sons of mankind and an eventuality as respects the beast, and they have the same eventuality. As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit, so that there is no superiority of the man over the beast, for everything is vanity. 20Â All are going to one place. They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust. 21Â Who is there knowing the spirit of the sons of mankind, whether it is ascending upward; and the spirit of the beast, whether it is descending downward to the earth?
(Acts 24:15) . . .and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. . .
(John 5:28-30) . . .Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment. 30 I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative; just as I hear, I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

We on R&S don't know all the circumstances of why your friend took her life, but if she was a Christian she would be with Jesus. The only person who really knows is God and each one of us should know if we have truly been born again. So it is difficult for others to really know who went to heaven or not..

I do realize some people are more sensitive about life issues than other people. And I also realize that when we surrender to Christ we are allowing his Holy Spirit to live through us, no matter how hard life is. Because Christians are to live by faith.
Personaly I think it is wrong for her to do that. It is a selfish act because it put pain in her family's life as well as her friends. And also Christ is not glorifed and it showed a lack of faith to trust God no matter how hard life gets. It showed she did not reach out to gett help through prayer or counselling from her Christian friends which included you. So you are okay to feel angry at her for being selfaish about it.
The best movie I have seen that dwelt with guilt about suicide is Ordianry People.
Having said all that, this is just my opinon. God alone knows her heart. I do believe that when life gets hard, for the Christian we are to depend on the rock of our salvation. So it's up to you to be strong now. But do not be strong in yourself only. But be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ.
God bless you and may the peace that passeth all understanding be upon you and yours through this time of loss.
You asked if she went to hell or heaven. Windwalker may have the best advice about that scripturally.
I would hope she did. But she would do so regretfully knowing that she could have done more with her life then cutting it short. And knowing that God was in control of her life and not herself. But It's possible she went to heaven. But this is my opinon only because no where in scripture is suicide a way to glorify Jesus Christ through your life. Instead it is cutting short your own life that could have been used to glorify him even more by overcoming the problems through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

There is only one sin that is unforgivable and taking your own life isn't it. But at the same time God takes a dim view of anyone that would pull that crap. How can God use you here on earth if your dead?

John 3;16 says that,"GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten SON,that whosoever will believe in HIM shall not parish but have everlasting life." When JESUS gave up HIS spirit on the cross HE said,"It is finished."HE paid for all of our sins;past, present and future. There is no one here on this earth without sin. Those who truly receive CHRIST are saved and cannot lose that salvation. We will be held accountable for our sins, but salvation is a free gift from GOD and GOD cannot go back on HIS WORD.There is a new group http://group.yahoo.com/group/Loveconquersall/

The Bible doesn't say taking ones life wikll send you to hell, there are people who even killed others who are in heaven right now, like Paul and Moses. Temptations come, but non so hard that we cannot ovecome them, you're friend felt no way out. But God is graceous and if she trusted in Jesus for her salvation she is in heaven now. Email if you'd like to know more.

As a Christian we are taught that suicide =eternal damnation. The problem is Christianity has been tampered with and translated by many to fit their own selfish needs. I honestly don't know if your friend went to hell but I do believe in God and His Son and that one day all of those questions that we have will be answered. Hold on to your beliefs and try not to focus on the do's and don'ts of any religion. I hope this helps.

I don't think the idea of suicide is discussed at length in The Bible, but Jesus tells us that the only unpardonable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. If your friend accepted Christ, then I believe that God will forgive her moment of weakness and accept her into his kingdom with open arms.
I think you should talk to God about this. All of us here are human and we interpret scripture in different ways. Only God has all the answers in a situation like this. I am sorry to hear about your loss and I'll be praying for you.
