Here is a guide to help you set the gain correctly:

You'll need Microsoft Excel, a multi-meter (AC volt meter) and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

If you don't have Excel let me know and I'll send you a condensed version. sparky3489@yahoo.com

The gain is located underneath a cover plate. Remove the 4 hex screws holding the large plate that's just above the power and speaker terminals. You'll find the crossover, gain and bass boost controls just underneath.

The amp will probably be okay with the subwoofer as long as you don't abuse it; and as long as you don't start playing with the crossover, gain, and bass boost. If it starts to sound strained or distorted, turn it down.

depends who you had wire it up. if it's like circuit city or best buy, then chances are it could not be wired right. you try taking it back to em?
