I'm not a recipe user. I just make things by sight and taste. I would use a gallon of water to 1/2 bag of brown sugar. Start out with that and boil it. Then let it slightly cool and then taste it. If it's not sweet enough for you, keep adding sugar. Plus, you may want to add a little maple flavoring. Or, you could go to allrecipes.com and find a recipe. They may give you a little more complex one, which you don't need to make good syrup.

1:1 Works every time. But you can also add stuff like amaretto or something. But 1 to 1 is the basic recipe.
