In this case you can put the adjective either before or after the noun. It would be the same

una mariposa preciosa
or
una preciosa mariposa

If you put the adjetive before the noun it sounds more poetic, but it's the same. Normally, we say "mariposa linda" (or bella, preciosa, hermosa) but can also say "linda mariposa".

Bonita, bella, and hermosa all mean beautiful.
