You can use a telescope during the day, but the image would be inverted. It would be better to use a Spotting Scope which is the same as a telescope, but manufactured to produce the correct image. Spotting scopes cost more, but are of a much better quality. If you want quality at a lower price, then check out some of the Russian imports available at the moment.

I agree. A good pair of 10-12 power binoculars are best for watching aircraft. The field of view of a telescope is much too narrow to try and catch a moving aircraft, especially mounted on a tripod. Spotting scopes are good but their problems are much the same.
Binoculars just make it a whole lot easier. I just watched an airshow from over a mile away with a good pair of 12 power binoculars and it was great.

I find Binoculars are better for Aircraft spotting (I have used both) as the length and narrow field of a telescope makes it a bit difficult to find a moving target. Whatever you use be vary careful you don't accidentally view the sun, that can blind you

Telescopes are not good for aeroplane spotting. They have a narrow field of view so you will find it difficult to keep your aeroplane in sight as it moves.
Get a pair of binoculars and a tripod stand for stability.
Whatever you use be vary careful which way you point it. DO NOT look into the sun or you will be made blind, possibly permanently.
