Personally, I get tired of arguing why I believe in God and
if they don't want to believe, that's up to them. I believe in
God and that there will be a Judgement Day. If you're not
ready, well, that's the way it goes. That may sound terrible
but sitting around arguing is terrible also and sure doesn't
seem to get anywhere.

That would mean you are capable and free to think on your own and...that is not only unacceptable, it's dangerous!

That sounds like a good plan to me..

No more arguing, no more "you are going to hell", no more preaching, no more inane questions that have been asked a million times..

I will believe there are no deity(s) and never were, I will believe the bible and all other religious texts are fairytales created by men in order to control the masses with fear.. I will believe in the Big Bang, I will believe after death the is nothing, no darkness, no heaven, no hell no soul no consciousness just nonexistance, this life is all there is..

I will believe there is no Deity(s) therefore the is no judgement day, it doesn't matter if I or anyone else is ready it's a fairytale created to make the masses fear misbehavior..

Sound good to you? Or would you like to preach and try to convert me to believing in a deity so I can be "Saved" or as I like to call it "Being a lemming running from the nonexistant terror."

I'd agree. I'll give the person my views and if they don't want to believe me I'm not gonna argue with them. Especially when their arguement is "thats stupid".I don't try to push my belief in god on other people. I wish they'd listen and ill make an attempt. The only way you can get someone to believe in god is if they are open to the idea and willing to hear you out. you can drag a mule to water but u cant make him drink. If they are willing to listen then im willing to tell them everything i know and if they still don't believe what i do i did my best and at least they gave me a shot. But some people are gonna be rude about it and no matter what you say they arent going to budge.

Well friend, I was right with you until we got to the "if you're not ready" part- this would imply a better than mentality on your part, even still.

I am all about live and let live - I practice Buddhism. And I will not say to you, well, you're not ready for Buddhism, not developed enough.... see what I mean?

It isn't terrible to not want to argue, and it isn't terrible if I don't believe in Judgment day and you don't care. In fact, it's a big relief for me. Now maybe we can talk!

It would be nice to think thats how it works, but unlike a lot of the other responses I don't so see this as true.

For a start, you "believers" don't just believe and keep it to yourself. Your religions have a history of wanting to recruit in to your cults and punishing those who don't with the threats of hell, violence, rape, murder, etc. So that won't work.

Secondly, religions (especially chistianity and catholicism) have a long tradition of imposing their views and beliefs on the masses while interfering with politics and things that shouldn't even concern them.

If your so convinced about your hateful "god" and his judgment day then just get on with life instead of feeling the need to interfere in everyone elses lives!

It depends whether you think people have a duty to each other or not. Atheists think religious people are wasting their time, brainwashing kids and teaching dangerous, flawed morality. Christians and Muslims think the atheists are on the path to destruction and need to be converted.

From both points of view there is a fairly pressing need to change the minds of the other side.

Right on. Way to come on here and voice you opinion and be a total hypocrite. What's your point man? You just wanted to let everyone know that? Don't you think that just furthers the problem you're complaining about?

I dunno
All the arguing is from people who haven't had closure.
Maybe you don't like discussing it because you can't present a good case without relying completely on the Bible.
You can't ever rationalize faith so you shouldn't try, but you're still supposed to evangelize.
Just don't look stupid in the process.

If you don't want an argument, then don't say, "...that there will be a judgement day. If your not ready..." because when you put it like that you are ultimately saying you are right and anyone who believes different is wrong. How about you believe what you want and keep your mouth shut about it too. Thanks.

That sounds like a winner to me. Among God's greatest gifts is free agency to all mankind--the ability to choose for ourselves what path to take to return to His presence--or not to return to Him.

Arguing is a strong form of contention and the Christ is not pleased with such contention in our lives.

But I want you to believe everything I do. I will show you the light not Jesus. You can't even talk to him and expect a response. I will respond. I will give you hope. Join me in worshiping me.
