If you are not putting frosting on the cookies after they cool, then you should put the sprinkles on before you bake them. Sometimes they don't stick, so brush the tops of the unbaked cookies with an egg wash (scramble on egg in a bowl and add a little bit of water to thin it out), then sprinkle on your sprinkles. If your cookie dough is sticky, you don't have to use an egg wash.

I think your grandpa must be one awesome dude.

I have found the best way to cook potato wedges or cubes, is this: Get a gallon size zipock type baggie. Add 1-2 tablespoons of your oil mixutre. Add potatoes. Shake to coat. Place on a foil lined cookie sheet and bake at 350-375 degrees until tender. Usually around 30-45 minutes. You can also add dry soup mixes to the oiled up potatoes to give them a little more flavor. I find this method is much better than sprinkling the potatoes after they are placed on the cooking sheet. In my experience, the smoking usually comes from the drips that were "sprinkled" directly onto the cookie sheet. Also, you need to make sure there is a little room between the wedges so the heat can circulate better and food will cook more evenly. Hope this helps. =)

Both! You can mix up
the sprinkles to the cookie dough egg and butter mixture, and bake it. OR. If you have frosting to put on the cookies then add your frosting to the already BAKED cookies and sprinkle the sprinkles.

You can do both, but if you put it on after, you will need to use frosting on the cookie to hold the sprinkles. I do it these ways when I make sugar cookies at Christmas. I like frosting and my husband doesn't, so we have it both ways. Have fun baking!

If you want them in the batter or on top you put them in/on before you bake. A trick for sprinkling them on top is to gently use your finger to "mush" them on so they stick a bit better. About the only time you wait until after is if you are frosting them.

Before baking so that they bake onto the cookie! Have fun and send my greetings to Grandma.

Put the sprinkles after baking. Just after you pulled it out from the oven. Don't wait to cool it down. Sprinkle it while it's still hot.

You should put the sprinkles in the cookies before cooking, so they stick. =)
