I'm a bit fed up of eating ready meals at work - we have a microwave, a kettle, a toaster and one of those sandwich press things. I'd love to cook some pasta, but as we haven't got a hob or saucepans, I can't see any way of doing it, as you can't get a rolling boil.

Has anyone successfully managed to cook dried pasta in a microwave and not get indigestion?

I've tried those sachets of "microwaveable pasta" and they're horrible!

Why not cook it at home then take it to work in a plastic box, and heat it up in the microwave... a lot easier!

Some types of pasta, like ramen noodles, will steep for a couple minutes in hot water. you just heat the water for 3 minutes then put the pasta in the water and cover it for like 5 minutes. This might also work with fresh pasta or angel hair pasta. Or, you could cook it at home, then warm it up in the microwave at work.

First boil the water in the kettle, add it to the pasta, add more than you will for regular cooking. Put in the microwave for 7 minutes, in a half/partially covered pot. then check if its done, if not kep puttin in the microwave for 1minutes 30 seconds. For me the 7 minutes work (remember, the water was initially boiling). Then drain and add whatever you need to add.

Add cut up hotdogs, cheese and peper.

Enjoy.

Ugh. Never tried it. Better to cook it at home and bring it in and heat it up in the microwave.
