If the democrats are gonna take care of us with welfare so we can all stop working, shouldnt they raise the benifits a lot more? Not all of us fell comfortable selling dope on the side for cash

You make a good if sarcastic point. The American corporation does a lot for the worker. It's not necessarily all altruistic but the name of the game is money. And keeping good workers is in their interest, so they pay them more and give them more benefits.
There are good managers and bad managers, but the union does not see the difference between good workers and bad workers. It wants to keep them all, because in the end the union is just another corporation, only it's an employment agency and it has better brainwashing than the corporations that have to use it.
Then there's the politicians promising to redistribute the wealth from those that have either earned or inherited it to those that either are trying to earn it or sit on their butts and collect it. Fact is that even if you did redistribute all the wealth in the country today to where all had equal shares, it would only take a few decades (or years) at most for those with the financial sense to have as much or more than they have now.
Too many people have no concept of financial management.

I think you miss a point in your question... Corporations are not against Americans, but for your money! The more they give you, the more they receive...
But corporations do not care at all about American values...
Just care about their bank account and interests around the world. When you are at the top, you seek to remain in such position, so you do whatever it is needed to remain, even if it imply to crush some American values on the way...
