I am a firm believer in this! Sometimes it takes a very long time for us to learn the reason, and it doesn't always land in our laps. The search for the reason is part of the lesson. I'm still seeking the reason for a life-changing event from two years ago. I'm trying to be patient and open-minded, but it's very difficult at times.

no not really. Anything that happens was first concieved in the mind by thought. Action is the effect and joy and suffering are the fruit. You create everything, nothing just happens for a reason. It happened because you wanted it to. Period.

I do not agree. A little boy, a family friend, was killed when some teenagers threw a bolder off the overpass. His father was a preacher (still is). I do not believe it was God's will. I believe God spoke to those boys in their heart and pleaded with them not to do what they did. They chose to. It was not God, it was not Satan, it was the teenager's decision. There was no reason for it. God helps believers deal with the tragedies of life and brings comfort and hope to those who are hurting. And God can take a tragedy and bring about something good.

I do not agree.
While I often feel as thought things are happening for a reason, I also know that people make choices, people have free will. People choose to do things which are good and which are bad. They choose to murder. They choose to help others.
If everything happened for a reason, then nothing would happen without some divine purpose. That would make life meaningless, as everything would be preordained. So all you would have to do is... nothing!
I think we make our own choices in this world. That's why God calls us to love on another, to have faith in Him, and to objectively seek and love God.
However, while humans always have free will, maybe God sometimes intervenes. So maybe once in a while things happen for a reason.

i guess it is nice to believe something like that but it is hard to see it while going thru a hard time. I think people say that because it helps them to cope with whatever is going on that their mind may not be able to deal with. I dont understand how loosing a child or getting a terrible disease or watching someone you love die can have a reason behind it tho.

I do agree that there are things in this world that happen for a reason...we just have to wait and see what that reason is sometimes...a good lesson in patience!

Urrrm....i suppose it depends what you believe...hahah there's a vague answer if ever you wanted one.
No i mean, I think it probably does...the reason is just not always apart...if it ever is...
Then again, maybe it could be random chance.
I do know the world must be hear for a reaons, though, otherwise why would it be? and if the world's hear for a reason, it probably means everything that's part of the world is too.

No, I hate that saying! Especially when someone looses a loved one. I'm a Christian and I can't stand it when people say "It must have happened for a reason".
I think it stems from people trying to convey hope by conveying that God is in control. Instead of that saying I prefer "God can bring good out of even this".
We live in a fallen world and things don't go as God would desire them to. But he's able to bring good from pain.
