if God wants you to hear the call,he will because he can....
I've read about it a while ago...God give you a sign, and another and another...it may be a verse you hear or give you a very valuable gift so you feel shame that he's giving you all these blessings and you are sinning so you tern back his call....for those who are inattentive and miss these small sign...God might send them a trial in a form of a catastrophe so you can feel weak and again turn back to him and ask him to help you.....don't get this wrong...God do this for those he loves and care about...he loves you so he's alerting you...
God leads you to the way of repentance..and when you do,he accepts it...how amazing is that..?!

If there is a serious concern on your part, you have been listening. God beacons everyone. There isn't always an open ear, but eventually there will be. In the quiet, (in the morning hours are good, as there is less 'static') you can hear better. There is a still small voice that beacons you onward. Listen, and learn. You will not always get the message right away*, or as clear as a bell, but it will always be urging you to take a step toward Him, in love.
[*Sometimes, you get the message later on in the day, (not at the time you sit quietly, listening, waiting on Him.)]

Deuteronomy 29:4 - Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Matthew 13:43 - Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

He will find a way to "make" you hear him if he wants to get your attention bad enough.
Unfortunately, most people have to get to very low places in life before they look up for God.
I would keep my ears open now so you don't have to be taken to the lower places in life.

He'll keep ringing back.
Seriously. You will keep meeting whatever calling it is in all the randomest ways, so much so it could be scary. At least I think so...He seems like a pretty patient guy.

The bible says many are called, few are chosen. God calls many and many of those many turn a deaf ear.

That's not possible. You would answer God's call. You just probably wouldn't follow His instructions. You WILL answer his call though.
