Let he that is without sin, cast the first stone.

DO I NEED TO DUCK?

Thanx for all the answers, and my point is, how is it that people can constantly call me "close minded?"

Because I am a Christian? Because I have Christian values? Because I do not accept homosexuality? Because I am pro-life? Because I refuse to change my value system to suit someone else's?

Thanx again for all the answers. AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

It is not that they are "Close Minded". It is that the Holy Spirit has not softened their heart to believe.

I think there are a whole lot of closed minded people in every religion, sect and race. It is good to be open minded, but not so much as to have your brains fall out.

There are some 'Christians' that are about as closed minded as anyone on the face of the earth. Just try to introduce another point of view to some and you will see what I mean. Christ was trying to get those religious nuts to open their mind a little, but what it did to some, was to open it just a crack, only to slam it shut on the first person that helped try to open it further.

These are not the only ones. Absolutes are not a beautiful thing, esp. on an open forum.

If Christians are open-minded, then it's not on the subject of religion. They are the most close-minded group on that subject. But, what doesn open-minded actually mean in the long run? It certainly doesn't mean acceptance because no one accepts something they don't believe. Open-minded means "ready to entertain new ideas." Broad-minded means "inclined to respect views and beliefs that differ from your own." I think people confuse the two. I'm willing to listen. But that doesn't mean I have to agree or accept. I'm willing to respect, if I get respect in return.

That's a joke right?

Open minded people don't need to look up what they are supposed to believe in their little rule books.

They don't shut out any new idea by repeating the old ideas repeatedly.

They allow for others to have different ideas and willingly discuss them.

They realize that not everyone will (or should have to) believe as they do and therefore don't attempt to make their beliefs into laws.

I could go on, but it's pointless.

what? most people who are non-believers were Christan's who chose to open their minds. Why dont you give it a try? What are your thoughts on evolution, the big bang and laws of the universe? You probably dont have any other than no, Christ is the way so how can you even say something like that dude? Give yourself a week, learn something different like why atheists, agnostics and freethinkers feel they way they do about religion. You might be quick to recant what you just wrote.

uh? you're saying we arethe close-minded ones?

I thought Christians were the ones who neglected every other theory than their own..
You guys don't have an open mind, you are all just puppies of the church, you believe in a book which has been politcally abused for 2000 years, and you won't even take the time to consider that you are wrong.

as non-believer, we weight each theory, and form an opinion based on that, but we have read other theories, you guys don't.
and i won't throw you a stone, because I'm not without sin, no one is...

You say non-believers are closed minded. This is very true, but most Christians are also closed minded as well. It comes down to others not believing the same thing you do. As a Christian have you every really debated and really thought about non-Christians beliefs. Have you every really listened to a non-Christian and think they might be right. If not you are closed minded as well.

Waaaait? Whaaaaaaaat?

We Christians have not, historically and currently, been known for our open minds. To what, precisely, do you refer by insisting on such? Non-believers are close-minded, I perceive, only because they unbelieve what they unbelieve and want to enjoy the freedom to do so. Are you suggesting that their disbelief is, in itself, close mindedness?

Such a strange question. I would that you could elaborate a little more.

And, no. You probably don't need to duck.

The Spirit of truth wants to know why christians are so closed minded about putting the books in the bible above the gnostic gospels?

I don't honestly think your religion has that much of an impact on your open-mindedness or otherwise
its more the sort of person you are, being a jew or a christian or an atheist doesnt affect fundamentally how open your mind is - you might put on an act of it, but it doesnt change how you really feel.

2007-06-09 09:24:54 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 3 1

the very simple fact that you refer to everyone that is not of your paticular religion as a Non-Believer. shows that you ahve the closed mind.

of over 3000 gods worshiped around the world and throughout history. you deny the belief that any, but one, of them could possibly exist. because a book written by bronze age farmers, and kings that needed a method of controlling them, says so.

the first stone has been cast. but it was you that cast it. and is the rest of the world that must duck.
