i say if ya have time tools and talent to do it,go for it.many parts are availible for it ( body pieces, interior etc ) are availible through yearone.com. you also have the option of adding a modern engine an transmission into it as time/money allows. it all depends on exactly what ya plan to do with the truck. if you just plan to make it liveable for a daily driver, it may just need a few key things done an itd be ok.if you plan a full resto,it will take much longer, and more money.but a truck with all matching numbers in mint cond, can easily fetch a tidy sum

Depends on a lot of variables. How old? remember dealers are only required to have parts for 12 years on any given model. Do you have access to a pull it yourself junkyard? Also what brand. Older chevy parts are pretty easy to find, ford a little harder. International etc almost impossible. Next, remember you have to add a/c if ya wanna stay cool. custom ac units are very pricey. Also, can you do all the work yourself? body work, welding, prefab, and of course do you have a good complete set of hand tools?
I've done a bunch of restores on old cars and trucks. It takes a lot of time and money to do it right. JC WEhitney has a good catalog for older truck parts. If ya really like getting down and dirty, have at it. But don't expect to have it done in a month or 2. Probably more like a year depending on funds.

Buy a slightly used truck. You can look for one in excellent shape. A two-year-old truck with 25,000 miles on it loses about 1/3 of it's value. Paying 20,000 is way better than paying 30,000 for pretty much the same thing.

as long as the truck has all the parts and as not been in a crash the frame is strait and you get a good deal its not too old ,that is unless you want a clasic and you plan to pay for one, i guess the bottom is how much $$$$ do you want to spend and what do want to be seen in ? i have a 97 but its clean i really like it , allso i prefer the body style better then brand new.
