I have had lasik surgery about 8 years ago, it worked great, I have not had to wear contacts/glasses since then.

It is not really painful tyey put drops in your eyes to numb them.

your eyes will be red of course, but that goes away in like 2 days, they gave me valium to relax me for the procedure. I had to keep my eyes closed the remainder of the day. You have to put in eye drops for about 2 weeks.

The only pain I had afterwards was a feeling of grittyness in the eyes.

the cost, depends on where you are going to have it done, I paid about 1500. per eye, but that was 8 years ago,

My husband had LASIK bout 2 weeks ago...didn't feel a thing. A little dryness the first couple of days, and first thing in the morning. No pain. He has been corrected to 20/10 in one eye and 20/20 in the other...one week postop. His LASIK cost about 1500/eye, but that price will vary by location, doctor, and experience. BE WARY of the places that advertise low prices. From my research, it has been shown that those low "$299 per eye" prices are just to get you in the door.

The link below is one that my PRK surgeon gave me. I am having that later this week and have been told that I will have more discomfort than a LASIK patient (sensation that there is a very dry/dirty contact lens for 3-5 days versus day of surgery with LASIK), but the end result will be the same. When I was looking at docs, pricing, etc...I heard prices from $3000 for both eyes to $4200 for both.

Lasik eye surgery has NO PAIN :). Quality lasiks cost $4,000 to 6,000. If you have health insurance you may get a discount.
I had mine done at TLC laser center. I had BLADELESS custom lasiks. Bladeless is the safest, newest method. Not many places do bladeless cause it is so new and only highly qualified surgeons have bladeless right now.
TLC is all over the US. Go in for a free consultation.
My actual surgery took about 10 minutes. It was over before I knew it! I can now see better than 20/20 (20/15 now).
I used to be 20/400 (couldnt see big E on the eye chart).
I could see right after surgery was done. Immediately after! Everything was cloudy and gray looking but in perfect focus (they told me at TLC that it would look cloudy and gray right after).
I kept my eyes closed the rest of the day (recommended to keep eyes closed as long as possible so i took a nap).
And the next day I could see perfect. Cloudyness and grayness gone. I had to use prescription eye drops for 2 weeks and I had to go to many follow up appointments (prepaid when I paid for surgery, it's part of the price).
And now all i need to do is see my personal eye doctor every year.
Best thing I ever paid for.
And at TLC if my vision changes as i get older i can get it redone for free.

I had Lasik surgery about 8 weeks ago. I had a prescription of -7.00 with astigmatism in both eyes. I experienced distorted vision with glasses, and with contacts I was corrected to about 20/25 on a good day.

The surgery was pain free, all I felt was a bit of pressure on my eye. I was somewhat sensitive to light after the surgery, and had a bit of a "sand in the eye" feeling for a few hours. After a nap, this irritation was gone.

I was able to drive the same evening (although they say you are not allowed to). I did experience some halos around lights at night, but they are much better now then they were and most likely will be gone in another week or two as my eyes continue to heal.

At a follow up check one week ago, I was 20/20 in both eyes! I wish I had done this sooner!!

As to cost, I paid a bit under $5000 for both eyes. I could have gotten it done for less, but I wanted the top of the line equipment and surgeon. The cost is nothing compared to the results I got!! As a matter of fact, my wife had the same procedure done two weeks after me. Her eyesight was not as bad as mine, and she is now seeing 20/15 in both eyes!!

a million) Whether or now not you're suitable for laser surgical procedure depends upon relatively a quantity of character eye elements. Only an eye fixed general practitioner who has for my part tested your eyes can reply this question. two) Laser surgical procedure is a alternative for glasses, it are not able to make your imaginative and prescient greater than it's with glasses. If the first-class imaginative and prescient you could have with glasses is 20/50 then the first-class you'll be able to count on with laser surgical procedure is 20/50. And that's now not well enought to be a firefighter in the event that they desire 20/30.

Works very well, not painful and any pain can be stopped immediately with drops. Relatively inexpensive now around $800 per eye.
