The world needs peace and prosperity. If everyone acted in a way that brought peace to others they would themselves have peace. Prosperity (not meaning everyone should be rich just have enough) is important because poverty makes people unhappy and influences them to commit crimes and other unskillful actions.

Most things are random, although some of the stuff that happens is a reflection of our own actions. We're responsible to ourselves, for ourselves and if we wish to live happily, we should act that way. Follow gods that invite you or follow none.
