I have heard 8 weeks, but other places say 7 weeks and some say 10-12 weeks. I was leaning more towards the 10-12 weeks. What is your opinion?

A toy breed puppy like a pomeranian should stay with it's mother until it is 12 weeks old. During that period, the mamadog with teach the puppy many important social skills, such as soft mouth play, bite inhibition and independence, which will prevent behavior problems later.
Please keep in mind that it's against the law in most states in the U.S. to sell a pup before it's 8 weeks old.

THe recomended time for a pup to stay with its mother and the rest of the litter is 8 to 12 weeks. Leagaly the bare minimum is 8 weeks any breeder that would let you take a pup before it is 8 weeks is not a breeder that you should get a pup from.

I would keep the pup until it is at least 10 weeks old. There is a period of time prior to that that a puppy can become extremely shy and frightened that will have lasting effects on the dog into adulthood. I think its about 7 weeks old. Breeders with much more experience can tell you. Anyway, the pup will adjust much quicker and be happier if you wait until at least the 10th week.

At least 8 wks. In some places it is illegal to purchase/sell a puppy younger then 8wks.
Some people keep them until they are 12wks. old since they are so small. I think 10-12 wks. old is good. This way they get enough time with mommy and the littermates. They also get used to eating the food.
It really depends on how well the puppies are doing. Sometimes you get a tiny one and they may need to stay longer then 12 weeks old.

I find with teh small breeds that sometimes tehy need to stay with tehir mom longer as they somtimes won't eat so readilly.
Teh problem is some breeders will only get one set of shots and they may not get all teh shots needed.
If the pup is definately eating and drinking on its own 8 weeks is teh best age.
also if you wait until 10 -12 weeks they may be getting into bad habits that may be harder to break.
Good Luck

It actually depends on the state you live in. I believe in most states legally the pups can not be sold until they are 8 weeks of age. Most puppies usually begin weaning between 5-7 weeks of age. Almost all puppies are completely weaned by 8 weeks of age.

8 weeks, if they stay much longer they will become more dependant on thier mother who really isn't much interested in them any more. They need to bond with humans. Before 8 weeks they won't get enough socialization from thier siblings, and mother which can also cause behavior problems

The only thing that matters with the "how long" is the longer it is with it's mother, the more she can teach and the better socialized the pup will become.
