Because religion gets in the way. It tells us that some of us are good and will go to Heaven. It tells us that some of us are evil and will go to hell. Religion tells us things that are not true. Things that Our Father would never say to us. We are all equal. We are all loved and safe. We will all go home at journey's end.

We are not equal in GOD's eyes.
We are given equal opportunity and all loved by GOD. Our status with GOD is the result of each individuals own actions or choices, and will be revealed in the end.
What you see every day,and feel as inequality in humans,
is in the eyes of humans.

Because God doesn't have to put up with scum out there on a daily basis. He just sits back and does nothing, never helps, never intervenes. "Oh, but he's not an interventionist God". Oh how bloody convenient. Would someone explain that to the TV Evangelists who seems to channel him and heal cripples live on television? Bloody voodoo crap.

We are all equal in the sense that we all have to come together and overcome our differences for awhile to cooperate long enough to objectify some contradiction that has us all subjected. And we can see it. Can't you?
