How close of a relation does it have to be to count? Without the aid of Ancestry.com, I can come up with Jim Backus (Thurston Howell, III), Red Skelton, and George "Spanky" McFarland (of the "Little Rascals") from my mom's side-of-the-family.

On my dad's side, Tom Connally, a Texas Senate who was the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee during World War II, is a great uncle, and George Connally (a 1920s and 30s Chicago Whitesox player) and Texas Governor John Connally are second cousins. Two of my grandfather's sisters married Connallys. In case you're wondering, I'm from Texas.

Ransom Olds (the Oldsmobile)
Frank Winfield Woolworth (Woolworth five and dime)

William I, II
Carolus Magnus (Charles the Great, Charlemagne)

Sure, anyone around as long as these families would be. I am some way or another related to most US Presidents, their wives, and a whole slew well-known in arts and sciences. So what?

Grandmother told me who we were (on her side) back when I was little, and that we were nobody important, just farmers. She knew.
